By the time Hunter came back with two plates of burgers in both hands, our conversation had shifted to a somewhat light-hearted one. Karlie was ranting about her almost non-existent relationship with her father, who was befittingly one of the richest man in the whole Southeast Asian region, where she was from.
"It's really messed up how he thinks sending me flowers on my birthday is close to acceptable, does he think I'm his business acquaintance or something?" Karlie gushed.
"Who's your business acquaintance?" Hunter questioned as he set a plate of burger in front of me.
Karlie glared at him. "My father," she hissed. "I mean, I know we've never really had anything to talk about since I was literally a baby, but couldn't he have at least sent me a card?"
"Maybe it got lost in the mail," Hunter provided, taking a bite of his burger.
