I grip the steel bars of the shelf containing the flour and rice, afraid to look behind me at what I will see. I can hear Karlie shuffling on her feet in the near silence of the room and Jessica clears her throat loudly.
"Aiden?" I hear Grant say. "What are you doing?"
I peer to my side to look at Karlie and see her looking to me too—as if I should know what to do next. I turn slowly where I stand and look up at Grant's piercing stare. Weirdly, he looks more amused than suspicious or angry. His grey eyes look down at me with a hidden joke behind them, like he knows something that I don't.
"What's in the box, Grant?" I challenge, my gaze never leaving his.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he replies smoothly.
"Why do you have them?"
