An unpleasant loud buzzing sounded from somewhere beside me, an unwelcomed sound that ultimately ended the blissful scene of my dream—though I hadn't realized it was a dream until after the fact.
I had been happy, content, in my personal paradise of my subconscious, and although I didn't remember every detail of it, I remembered enough to know that I was happy. I wasn't sure if that made it better though. If anything, it only made it that much harder to wake up to my reality.
When I finally pried my lids open, a disfigured silhouette came into view, looming above me. I let out an embarrassing high-pitch shriek a second before my vision cleared.
"What the hell, Mia! You scared the shit out of me."
The silhouette straightened her stance, and that's when I realized Mia's post-shower habit—wrapping her hair in a towel above her head—was the reason why I had mistaken her petite figure for someone else's.
