Yoshiro
"We have to tell him, Takeshi." A woman in her earlier 30's spoke as she looked at the kid sleeping soundly on his bed. "He needs to know. Soon he will come after me. Us."
The man looked at the kid and sighed. He knows that she's right. Soon, Lucifer will come after his wife. He knows Lucifer and how madly in love he is with his wife. He will definitely do everything he can to have his wife in his kingdom.
"We will tell him. But not now. He won't understand it okay? He is too young to get involved in this ruckus."
"But Takeshi, we should at least teach him how to open the gate." The woman looked at the tree outside their house. "If he's not ready to learn about Lucifer, then at least let him know about Their existence."
It was the last thing I could remember as a kid. My memories of my childhood get hazy as I try to recall them. It's as if it is being clouded by thick layers of fog. I'm pretty sure that my parents did something to hide it from me. Whatever their reason for doing that is the least of my concerns.
My main priority is keeping the balance of this world by being the gatekeeper.
I know about the existence of otherworldly and ghostly apparitions. Our clan has been tasked to protect the human world from them. You can say we are like exorcist—but not the one who exorcise souls—the one on the anime series called Ao no exorcist. We use enchantments and talismans to bring them back to their respective places.
We are also the messenger of the Gods. Some of our ancestors had been the successor of powerful Greek Gods, like Hades and Zeus. Some were prophets. Some even become Archangels. And of course, some of my ancestors became fallen angels.
But despite our ancestors coming from different races, we are all good.
Our race never sided with anyone. We are always neither. We are always in the middle because we are the balancer of the earth. We are the peacekeeper. Our clan is known for it's a connection with higher beings. That's why whenever anomalies occur we are the ones who took care of it.
But I've never been included in any of the missions. I don't know why but my father wouldn't let me. Sometimes I'd have this thought that maybe the reason why my father had forbidden me from taking any mission is because of him, Lucifer. I really don't know what happened that night and why I can remember their conversion. Maybe it was the gift that God's have given me. My grandparents once told me that I was gifted. That among our race, I am the only person who got his gift in such an early stage. As to why that happens, I don't know.
As I walked over the busy streets of San Miguel, I bumped over a tall guy.
I know him. Well, who wouldn't? He is, after all, the epitome of death. Or you could say, he is death himself. But I've heard he's been granted permission to set foot here on earth. For a mission I guess. Lucky for him.
"Sorry." He said as he walked past me while yanking the girl beside her. I think she's Julie. She's the opposite of Julius. They might have rendered their abilities for them to not harm any human. That must have sucked so bad. I mean they are almost completely human right now. I can't even feel a single demi-god presence from them. If it weren't for my grandparent'ss connection with the higher anarchy, I wouldn't have known it was them.
I just nodded at him and continued walking. I need to go home as soon as possible. My father will be mad if I am going to be late again. Today is an important day. Today is the day that everyone has been waiting for. The God's will now choose their successors, or if not, will bestow their chosen one some of their powers. And everyone can't wait to see which family will be one of the four Archangels. It's a trivial thing because it will determine which family will be the next member of the higher anarchy.
When I got home my father is sitting on his couch near the fireplace staring at my mother's photo.
"Sit here, Yoshiro. I have to tell you something before anything happens to me." He said while motioning me to sit beside him.
"Your mother—" At the mere mention of my mother, my limbs began to shake. My hands suddenly felt cold. This is it. I never knew my mother. I've only heard of her from my grandparents but only her name was mentioned and nothing else. "She's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."
Pain and longing are evident from my father's eyes as he said those words. I know how he feels. I know how sad it was for him to speak of my mother.
"She came from one of the Archangels. She's actually the successor of Athena. But we happened. And she lost her purity after you were born." he smiled as his eyes welled up in tears. "You were three when Lucifer began to lust over your mother. He fell in love with her when she went on his chamber to. . . to get her brother's wings. And you know how dirty Lucifer plays. He asked your mother to live with him in exchange for his brother's wings. "
He looked at the picture frame he's holding. "But she refused. She loves us more than his brother's wings. That's why she ran away from him. But Lucifer already expected that she will refuse. So even before your mother could run, Lucifer ki–"
My father suddenly fell down on the floor. Slowly sinking on the floor that is now turning into a pool of mud. I immediately run towards my father and attempted to pull him back up but to no avail.
Before he completely got swallowed he said something, a way to find my mother.
