Mystic high, a proud and prestigious school; the only high-school in Mystic, stood at the center of the town where students from far-off places came to gain a quality education. With a measly few hundred students the school boasted of each one of them being the most well behaved and mature adults. They couldn't have been any further from the truth.
The little high-school cafeteria buzzed with life as students sporting relieved smiles caught up with their friends and filled their empty stomachs.
After all, as the saying goes, 'An empty stomach is a devil's home.' Though feeding a devil only strengthens it.
On a table near the window sat a young girl. She had her arms pillowing her head, which lay tiredly on the table, dark golden hair with a light copper tint splayed around her shoulders.
Amora Hart released a sigh as she continued to stare at a boy with short, neatly combed blond hair, dressed smartly in a dark green shirt and beige pants, looking fine as always. One of the kindest and smartest souls in the school, she has been in 'love' with Joel Bairos from the start of her sophomore year.
On the first day at her new school, when Amora had clumsily lost her schedule and a copy of the map of the school, it had been Joel who helped her find her way around.
Since that day, she has religiously fantasized about that certain blonde boy.
Sitting at the 'popular' table, he was, as usual, flanked by girls wearing skimpy outfits and jocks with burly, hulk-like bodies. With his sparkling green eyes and athletic physique from being the captain of the basketball team, he was every girl's dream boy and every boy's role-model. His refined behavior, friendly personality, and excellent potential made him an instant favorite among students and teachers alike. Of course, being the mayor's son has its own perks.
Being a socially awkward person never had troubled Amora as much as it did now. Her inability to converse normally with a stranger rendered her incapable of confessing to her crush. But of course, this was only when she felt shy and uncomfortable. When Amora was in her comfort zone, she would have a whole new distinct personality.
'Why does he have to be so elusive?' Amora thought.
*Slap*
"OW!" she cried, straightening up, rubbing the back of her head as she scowled at her friends.
"Will you stop drooling? Have some dignity, woman!" Nora scolded.
Nora Walter is a stunning, confident, and bold brunette with deep brown eyes. Sharp with her tongue and strong with her fists, this girl can do anything for the people she loves.
Beside her was her twin brother Noah, who is quite the looker himself with the same features as that of his sister except that he also has tiny dimples forming at his cheeks whenever he smiles. That's something which he got from their mother and that his sister is quite jealous of.
Noah is a bit more calm and cautious compared to his sister, who is more mischievous and laid back.
When Amora met the twins in her first year at Mystic High, they had instantly hit it off with each other. Since then, these three have been best friends throughout till senior year.
"We've already entered the first week of the senior year," Noah began as he sat down beside his sister, "When are you planning to ask him out? After we have all graduated from our respective colleges?" he asked, sipping his juice.
Amora just continued playing with the dry noodles kept on the plate in front of her.
"Never," she answered decisively," Angels like him are only supposed to be admired from afar. Not attained," and with a sage-like nod, she looked at them.
After staring at her for three seconds like she's crazy, the twins continued filling their bellies.
"You need help," Nora answered for them both.
Suddenly, Noah pushed his chair back and stood up. "I need to go to the washroom," he said weirdly, sharing a glance with his sister.
"With your bag?" Amora eyed the blue-colored contraption slung on his shoulders.
"Uh...Yes, um, boy stuff," with that, he raced out of the lunchroom.
"But that's not..." Amora started before cutting herself in between and turning to his sister," You do know he's not going to the washroom, right?"
"Huh, What?" Nora asked with her mouth full before chewing properly and gulping it down, "Oh! That. He's just gone to play cupid." she answered casually, returning to finish her lunch.
"What?" Amora asked, puzzled.
Nora mentally slapped herself.
"For a friend of his in the reptilian society." she completed trying to cover up for her mistake.
Amora just nodded, not questioning further, making Nora relax a bit, but she should have known better. Amora may be kind and occasionally a bit too trusting but, she's definitely not foolishly naïve, and she knew whenever the twins acted like this, it means they are not up to any good.

Somewhere around the corner, near the lockers.
"Done," Noah muttered to himself before shutting the door of the locker he had been fiddling with.
"Mission Cupid is on its way to success!" he fist-bumped the air, before running towards his classroom as he heard the bell go off.
