Chapter 83 - Enlightenment

Adam grinned at the quietened army and rushed at them, preparing his sword for another strike. He dodged more arrows as he charged his sword with Aura, activating [Mighty Strike], and made finally made contact with the army.

He swung his sword against their own weapons, and even though there were five of them, Adam still overwhelmed them and sent them flying backwards, and he charged his sword once again with [Mighty Strike] to enter within the army.

Whatever he did, he would get surrounded at some point, and since this would allow him to stop caring about archers then he decided he might as well enter their ranks early on.

Although they were all one rank above him, Adam bested them all in individual strength, and even if that wouldn't win him this battle, it would still allow him to hit them hard.

Moreover, since he had opened the Gate of Limits, as well as those coming before, group fights weren't much harder than solo fights, and so for the first few minutes Adam was able to destroy all the opponents he came across.

However, Adam was spending his Aura at a quick pace, and five minutes into the fight he had already spent 90% of his aura, leaving him with slightly less than 2000 Aura.

He had made a good exchange though, as he had killed a hundred of them. Adam was quite lucky since they almost didn't have any healer, probably because they were members of a gang, most of the Clerics in the game were generally associated with forces of Light.

If they had had Clerics, then Adam would have been lucky to kill even ten of them, as they could just fall back deeper in their ranks every time their health turned low.

Despite his Aura starting to lack, Adam could still use his unmastered skills freely as they only had a cooldown and no price, and this allowed his skills to quickly gain experience.

Speaking of skills, Adam also realized something incredible about his skills thanks to his [Barbarous Roar], and that was how to level them up.

It looked like he could not only level up his skills by continuously using them, but also by understanding their working by himself, and using them well. Now that he had made that realization, it actually made sense.

For the low level skills, repeating them on and on was possible, but as they become higher tiered, they would get higher cooldowns, and drawbacks for some.

If Adam wanted to level up his [Totemic Rage], how many times would he need to spend to do so? Just leveling up his [Mighty Strike] to level 10 had taken him thousands of uses, and that was the lowest tier of skill.

Would he have to use [Totemic Rage] tens of thousands of times to max it out? That wasn't a viable option, and there were even higher tiered skills.

That's why, after coming to this conclusion, Adam's focus wavered from the battle itself, but rather went to his skills as he tried to understand them, and use them better.

As Adam no longer focused on killing, but testing his skills and dodging the attacks, thirty minutes later he was still alive and had quite some energy. However, in those 30 minutes he had only killed five of them, much less than the 100 he killed in only five minutes.

However, this had incredible results. Adam was currently facing an opportunity every martial artist crave for, a situation of life and death during which one's comprehension would jump.

Adam's [Charge] was already at Level 10, and he didn't manage to perfectly master it, however he was able to push four other skills to Level 10! Those were [Wind Blade], [Parry], [Lunar Smite] and [Barbarous Roar].

All of them started showing real changes as they reached their max level, for example [Wind Blade] would now be accompanied by a gust of wind that would make the opponent a little slower, his [Parry] would form an ethereal shield in front of his weapon, his [Lunar Smite] would form crescents of ice instead of blades, which were able to hit whoever was on his target's sides, and finally [Barbarous Roar].

As a B Tier skill, [Barbarous Roar] actually had the most impressive transformation. His roars would now actually form sound waves, and although they didn't deal damage, they would stagger weaker enemies and put the enemy's mind under a great suppression.

And those weren't the only skills that had leveled up. [Crushing Blow] and [Icy Stomp] were both Level 8,

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and although he regretted it, after thirty five minute of fighting he was forced out of his enlightened state as he was really close to dying.

He had already used up all three of his healing charges coming from his armor set, and the defense lowering skills were stacking more and more on him. If he didn't go now he would die, and that meant losing XP and potentially a piece of equipment.

Adam didn't mind much at first, but since he had already been forced out of his enlightened state, then he might as well get out of here alive since he had already gained much, much more than he could ever expect.

And he wasn't the only one who gained something out of this, as Neith had also been fighting, although he wasn't able to keep attention on her status, he was sure she had gained something out of this.

Adam waited for all his cooldowns to get to 0, before grinning and using his newly maxed [Barbarous Roar] "I HAD FUN, BUT IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO DIE!"

As he said that he activated [Totemic Rage], and although he tried to understand how it worked it was too fast for him, and it was only the second time he used it.

But that didn't make it any less powerful as Adam started emitting a dreadful aura. Before anyone around him could move away, Adam stomped on the ground, using [Mighty Strike] and [Icy Stomp] at the same time.

-60000 HP!

-60000 HP!

-60000 HP!

Everyone standing within 13 meters of Adam got turned into ice statues as they got hit by his attack, none of them was able to survive. Adam's attack had just been way too strong, only Ludo could have survived that.

Adam's attack had jumped over 200k, had he been surrounded by monsters they would all have suffered damage over 200k. But even with the damage lowered, it was still way higher than their defense and their HP, and so even those who were at full health had been killed.

If Ludo got hit by that, even if he was at full health, he would have lost more than half his health, and that was from an AOE attack. That's how powerful Adam became after activating his Berserk State.

Even Neith, who was a Chosen Monster, had suffered greatly when he used it, so for those average people, he was invincible for those 10 seconds. Maybe that was just him being arrogant, but Adam felt like he could kill a Level 100 in his current state.

No matter how many thoughts appeared in his head, Adam knew what to focus on. 13 meters was a big surface, that was 530.66 square meters, and they were all quite stacked, so that single attack had killed more than 400 of them! More than enough to make him level up to Level 26!

And he wasn't finished. He used [Charge] as he bulldozed his way out of the circle he had made, destroying the statues on his way until he reached the next living gangsters.

They were scared out of their minds, although they had been winning, they all knew that as a Berserker, Adam's final moments would be where he would be the most dangerous, like all Berserkers, but they never dared to imagine he would be THAT dangerous.

But whether they tried to flee or not, it didn't change anything. For now, Adam was unstoppable, but no matter what, he knew that 10 seconds wasn't nearly enough to kill all of the survivors, so what he needed was to get out of the middle of the army within those ten seconds.

Still, that was easily achievable, especially with his [Misty Escape], so he wanted to kill a few more of them before running away.

Adam first activated [Wind Blade], and then [Lunar Smite] to kill a group of five people in front of him.

-35000 HP! (*4)

All five people in front of him received 140k damage each, killing them before they could even scream in pain. This attack was even more powerful than his [Icy Stomp], but could only target a few targets.

After that, Adam didn't use much skills, since they were all in cooldowns, but just killed everything with his [Mighty Strike]. Eight seconds in his berserk skill, as only two seconds were left, Adam had killed 300 more of them, bringing the total amount of casualties on their side to more than 800.

But now was time for him to leave. He stopped killing them and began running away from the town, sending flying any gangster he bumped into. One second later, as he was left with a single second in his berserk skill, he activated [Misty Escape], becoming faster, and scalding everyone he passed through.

When he transformed back into a human form, his berserk skill ended, and he felt weakness assault him, but it was fine, since he had already left the town's shooting range, and the gangsters were too busy running for their lives to chase after him.

Adam smiled, but he looked like a bloodthirsty demon as he was covered in blood.
