Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"Aah"

James woke up from his sleep, and understood that it was all a dream. He never went to Florida, he never played basketball, never met a person called Steve who had a sister named Janice. In fact even if he wanted to, he couldn't as a mailman doesn't fetch you enough to even have party with your friends.

His house is small, the basement in his parents' house in Nebraska. He is after all only 18.

At 9 on the dot, James goes out of his house and to the post office. On his way, meets his work friend Harry. A stout man with cheeks and a fat nose topped off with black eyes. He was bald and lightly tanned.

"I had this awesome dream and it scared me to death" said James and started explaining the dream sequence to him.

After the explanation, Harry said as if dismissing it "bro...I know you like to dream but that! That is plain baloney"

Listening to this James excitedly said "yes bro! But it felt so real, it....it...was as if i was right there"

Harry was all bored and tired and said "that! That scared you to death. Huh should have thought. Coward! you should talk to my aunt after watching a horror film; you will know what's getting a nightmare. "

Just as Harry was about to continue, he was cut short by the post office guy who gave a butt load of letters to deliver.

James got 70 letters at a dollar and half earning for every letter delivered that day. Before, going to deliver, Harry stops James says "Wait you dreamed of marrying and having a beard?" and burst out laughing as he squeezed James' skinny hand.

James is skinny, and has a long face and weary eyes and a sharp nose and elf like ears. He was nowhere, near the way he dreamed about.

He finished delivering, all 60 letters in one hour as the houses where in the same block. The next letter was 2 miles from where he was. He walked to the house 2 miles away. And as he looked at the house, it was simple one bedroom house with no horror appeal whatsoever. James walks up to the door and knocks on it, after several knocks the door was opened by a man in his early 40's, with sweat dripping from every part of his body, and he ran. He ran out so fast as if fire was about to be set on him.

James steps inside and calls out "hello?" He looks around, the house is not very big inside too, with a small corridor and a room directly in front of him at the end of the corridor. The door leading to the room had the number 1 engraved on it. James was scared and he ran out, but before he could the door behind him closed shut. James was now scared to death, and suddenly the corridor in front of him seemed as the only source of exit. He hoped it would.

As James opened the door, his head was throbbing a lot. He held his head and calmed himself down. He opened the door and the room inside was empty and there was another door and above it was a portrait, a portrait of Janice the way he pictured it.

Thud, the door behind him close to a shut and the same clown he dreamed had closed it. James stood there like a stone. Not even twitching a muscle, he stood in the middle of the room; in front of him was the creepy clown. James noticed that the clown was holding a chainsaw, his eyes hollow and empty. The clown pulled the chain and the chainsaw roared, roared like it was happy to find its next victim.

James was so scared that he did not even move fearing that his movement may alarm the clown. The clown started talking in a creepy voice "hello!! Who's there? I know there is someone, I can hear you!!"Saying the clown put his ear in front as if listening to every sound, James realised that the clown was blind, in an act of desperation, he removed his shoes and threw them to his left. The clown hearing this ran to his right with the chainsaw over his head ready to strike. Seeing this as an opportunity, he made a dash towards the other door, the door with the number 2 engraved on it. Slowly he walked. Just as he was about to make it, the floor board he stepped on creaked. The clown turned his head to face James, he ran towards him and was screaming "sweet dreams", and James ran to the door and closed it in time. He locked it and stood with support on the door and sighed and looked forward. As he moved forward, the door behind him disappeared and the same entry door was seen, this time the corridor was long. There was another door in front and beside it......
