Chapter 3 - Loophole

The supposed twins stepped forward, and she studied them with narrowed eyes taking in their appearance and body language.

They looked her up and down with disgust as if refusing to believe that she was their sister. Annabelle fought back a childish impulse to give them the finger.

Their gaze brought itself back to her eyes, and they stared at her with scrutinizing glares, trying to find some fault in the steady, emotionless face she wore. They found none.

After what seemed like forever they spoke up. "I'm Drake, and this is Blaire." He nodded to his twin. "We're eighteen and will be attending school with you." They stepped back seemingly bored with the introduction.

Another one of her so-called 'brothers' stepped forwards. "Blake," He grunted nodding his head towards her as if his superiority needed to be claimed over the short, twelve-year-old girl.

This time Annabelle gave in to her impulses and gave him the finger, so much for good impressions, she thought.

Blakes face reddened in fury, at the disrespect he'd received from the minor, he scowled at her smirking face. Before turning around with a huff and stomping upstairs.

The next man in line shook his head with clear disappointment towards her actions. "Annabelle, I must ask was that really necessary?"

She answered back almost straight away, "No. It wasn't necessary. But it was rather tempting. Like giving a kid a lollipop and telling them not to eat it. Sooner or later they're gonna snap and eat it."

He sighed and ran his hands through his hair in frustration at her uncompliant attitude. "I'm not even going to reply to that. I'm Tom." He turned around and walked back to the couch a plopped down on it, next to the girl who was still staring at her.

The last brother, the on that had commanded the others before stepped forwards. "Annabelle, we don't appreciate that kind of behaviour in this household. It would be greatly appreciated if you didn't do it again, especially if you don't want any consequences." He paused for a moment looking at her severely.

She nodded with understanding in response, but the smirk still sat on her face.

"I am Charles, your legal Guardian. If you would please follow me to my office so we can go over some rules."

She nodded and clapped her hands in fake excitement, "Ooh, rules this will be fun." she said sarcastically.

"Respect, please," Charles said turning around to look at her.

She held her hands up in surrender, "Sorry, sorry. I'll stop now."

They had reached two large oak doors, they were joined together to make a grand entrance. And Anabelle had to admit, her oldest brother looked like a boss as he opened the doors and walked in straightening his black suit.

He sat at his desk and folded his arms in front of her, for a minute she thought he was just going to sit there and stare at her. Then he started talking.

"Belle, as I told you before I'm Charles, your oldest brother, and your legal guardian. As your legal guardian, it is my job to ensure your safety. In order to do so, your brothers and I have created some rules that we require you to follow. We have given the same rules to your sister, Ceanna, so you are both on the same page and treated equally."

"Okay. I understand."

"Good. Now onto the rules. Rule number one, no back talk, swearing or disrespect. Rule number two, no boys what so ever. Rule number three, meal times are not optional and we eat as a family in this house. Rule number four, the third floor is our, your brothers, workspace and we would greatly appreciate it if you avoided going up there unless it is an emergency. That's about it, any questions?"

Annabelle paused for a minute debating whether or not she should ask her question if she did ask it she would get a whole load of the weight of her chest, but if she didn't ask she would be able to get around her brother's rules.

"Yes," She breathed out nervously wringing her hands together and trying to keep her face emotionless. "What about girls?"

"Pardon?" He replied clearly confused.

"You said 'No boys' I'm bisexual. What about girls, can I date the female gender?"

He paused for a while and stared at her with an expression of shock that made her angry.

"Don't tell me you're biphobic!" She almost shouted at him.

"What?" Charles asked taken aback by how fast she'd grown angry. "No, I just wasn't expecting it."

"Oh," She hung her head in embarrassment at her sudden outburst. She was meant to be some kind of child prodigy, a genius and here she was yelling at the top of her lungs because someone looked at her funny.
