Thick fog engulfed in a dark space, blue flames have risen from the ground... Argus found himself covered in a warm incandescent blue light.
At first, he was afraid that the flames might come to hurt him, but when he became covered by this blue light... he found that instead of being hurt, he felt a calming sensation instead.
"Where am I?" He questioned, alone in the presence of the void.
"What is this place?"
.
.
.
...
But after asking the empty dark space, he heard nothing but silence...
Until the familiar voice of an old man echoed.
"Argus... you have come."
"Who are you?! Show yourself!"
Then the voice replied...
"This is me, Miguel! We have met here previously."
And light thuds that seemed to come from footsteps were heard. Beyond the thick fog where the blue flames have arisen, a blurry figure of an Old man came to view.
A tall looming figure draped in coat and business attire suit of other unknown materials unique to the eyes of Argus... to Argus, Miguel is a mysterious man.
According to Miguel, he has come from the future. He still had a hard time accepting everything Miguel have told to him in their previous encounter, but since the situation have already presented himself, he could only try to believe.
"I have no idea how you came here, I too just heard your voice from afar and decided to come here. But you should return now." Miguel softly spoke.
Yet Argus, raising his voice with a torrent of emotions swirling in him, he called out to the Old man and said something that perhaps might calm his confused mind.
"Wait! I have to ask you something. I also experienced being in this place before. I kind of have a vague idea of what is happening. And it seems like, whenever one of us uses my body... Then we just suddenly find ourselves inside of this place. Tell me! Are you God?"
When Miguel heard this he could not help but chuckle and replies,
"I am not! Being a believer is hard, you do not know whom you are waiting for... But I can reassure you, I mean no harm. I too was baffled the first time I came here, but just like what I saw in your memories which I assume you have experienced too? That is indeed the case. We come here when one of us uses the body. This is like a spiritual realm of some sort, I still have no idea what this place is. My only goal is to return to my time, to my homeworld."
Argus felt a familiar kinship between this old man in front of him, he too had a home he wished to return to but knew that he can never return to that home ever again. He felt a tugging sensation as if his heart is melting and breaking into pieces.
"Earlier this time I fought with a Magindra, a vicious mermaid. Also, I tamed a Tikbalang! This is getting crazy and out of hand. Too many things are going on that I do not know if what I am experiencing is even real or not. Yet, surprisingly at this moment, I feel so calm in your presence and this whole place is so soothing..." Argus said as he began inspecting his surroundings.
Miguel on the other hand felt like he was talking to his son, the place suddenly became lively with some news coming from Argus.
"I am considered a foreigner in your world. I have little to none regard for what is happening. But it looks like I am trapped with you. Am glad that you haven't forgotten our previous encounter." Miguel stated as he stared at the blue flame that separates them.
"If you aren't God... How come I came here after that illustrious dreamy place I came from? I thought you rescued me?" Still skeptical with his own doubts, Argus quizzically asked.
And another boisterous laugh escaped from Miguel's mouth,
"Hahaha, this is a problem with the people in your world. You are too superstitious but I can't deny the vague difference between our world and yours. What I think is that your world is probably my world, a millennium years ago. But I have to possess your body again in order to find out and confirm."
"Then! then... if you do that again, won't I return here again? If... if that's the case! can you help me with my revenge? I... I won't forgive those responsible for the fall of my tribe!" Argus declared and his voice reverberated throughout the dim-lit space.
Which the old man, Miguel solemnly replied, "Yes, also your body is weak. You have to help yourself first before asking for help. Like what I said, I am nothing but a foreigner in your world. I have little to none regard for what your aspirations are. I only wish to go back home."
When Argus heard Miguel he was dismayed, he slumped down and sat there staring at the blue flame that divides the two of them.
Silence has befallen.
A few moments later, Argus tried to brake the silence when he thought of a good proposal.
"Then, old man! How about this... I'll also find a way so that you can return to your world but at the same time when you are in possession of my body... You should help me too."
When Miguel heard this, he touched his chin to make a thorough contemplation. "Since I am trapped with you, I could only accept your proposal. We can work together from now on."
And when Argus heard Miguel's reply he stood up to jump in cheer, but not long when Miguel added a statement which has cooled of his excitement.
"But! First, we have to figure out what causes the change. How do we trigger the swap and what is the reason behind it." Miguel told so as he repeatedly tapped his thighs, a habit he formed when he is in deep thought.
"Well, I agree. That would be hard. Also, how do I get out from here?" Argus asked as they both stared at each other.
"That... I too don't know." Miguel could only helplessly utter and they both look around the whole place.
Only the light of the blue incandescent flame illuminates their surrounding. The two had their own contemplations as they did so.
