Chereads / Daggers In Heart / Chapter 3 - Find Her

Chapter 3 - Find Her

A brown-haired man was resting in an ornately furnished chamber with furniture that carried heavy price-tags. His face had a well-defined cheekbone, long eyelashes, and a dazzling smile that enhanced his features and captivated those who laid eyes on him.

Another handsome blond-haired man entered the room and parted the curtains letting sunlight peek into the room fall on the brown-haired man. He groaned in annoyance, and he used a pillow beside him as a shield from sunlight.

He turned to the blond man and, while still holding up the pillow, yelled at him, "put the curtains back!" he whined, "get out, you destroyed my dream!"

"Zain, your royal highness, please wake up," the blond guy asked.

"Zayed, go away. I need to sleep," Zain groaned, kicking his bed in protest.

"As you wish, your highness, don't blame me when his majesty comes to wake you up," Zayed gave a slight shrug.

"Fine! I am waking up, you blackmailer," Zain sighed.

He sat up sluggishly and looked up at Zayed with his dazzling hazel eyes, "tell the maids to get the bath ready."

"I have taken care of that. The bath is ready,"

He went to take a bath, then came out of the bathroom and trudged to the mirror, tightening the towel draped over his lower half. His body was incredibly toned, the effort showing in his six packs abs. His hand went towards the left side of his chest, which had a scar that was just an inch above the heart.

Weirdly, Zain caressed his scar with a smirk and went to wear the royal attire. He pulled on a white shirt and pants, then slipped on a red-colored slash and a long coat-like garment known as kaftan and secured it with a belt.

He looked at himself in the mirror briefly before yelling, "ALI!"

Seconds later, the man named Ali came running into the room like a madman, his face twisted to show fear and nervousness.

"Yes, your highness!" Ali announced bowing in front of the brown-haired man.

"Did you check on the details I gave you?" Zain adjusted his clothes as he looked in the mirror.

"Yes, your highness," Ali replied humbly.

"So? what's the news?" He asked in annoyance

"Your highness, I dispatched my team to find her highness," Ali trembled a bit, sensing the annoyance in the man's voice, "but there is no news about the princess so far."

"First, she abandoned her title, and does not deserve to be called princess, so call her by her and second show me your face when you have news; otherwise, I won't hesitate in killing you."

"S-sorry to disappoint you," Ali stuttered, " I-I'll try my best, your highness."

"GET. OUT!!" Zain jabbed.

Ali sprinted out of the room in fear, stumbling on the carpet on his way out. Zayed watched Ali run away and turned back to enter the room. He locked eyes with the brown-haired man and clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"How long are you going to stay like this?" he sighed with undertones of anger.

"For as long as I can until I get her back," Zain replied nonchalantly.

"Zain," Zayed growled, his voice practically dripping in pity, "at this rate you will go mad,"

"Zayed…" Zain locked eyes with Zayed through the mirror, his stare cold and piercing, " I don't care. I need her back."

"She won't come back after you did that to her," Zayed threatened with a shrug.

Zain's jaw clenched, and he turned around and wrapped his hand around Zayed's collar. Then he continued to hold him roughly and raised his hand a bit, making Zayed stand on his tippy toes.

"She must come back!" Zain yelled, shaking Zayed by the neck violently while Zayed tapped his hand furiously as the air started to leave his lungs, "and I'll make sure she comes back!!"

So caught up in his temper, he didn't notice he was suffocating Zayed until Zayed bit his hand. When he got in his senses, he let go of his collar and let him fall to the ground breathless.

"Follow me," Zain growled, glaring at Zayed, who coughed on the floor. As he stepped out of his room, two well-built men were standing next to the chamber's doors in a black suit. They were equipped in spears and guns in their belt. They both bowed in Zain's presence and followed Zayed and Zain as they walked down the hallway.

The interior of the mansion was mesmerizing and gave off a durable castle feel. The halls were like a walk down the past, with a mix of modern and old designs that were pleasing to the eye. Others in the hallway immediately paused their work and bowed their heads when Zain passed by. While passing one corridor, a maid bumped into the prince and spilled a drink on his leather boots.

"I-I am sorry," the maid trembled, falling to her knees and fumbling through her pockets to pull out a handkerchief, "your highness. Let me clean it for you,

"Clean it now," Zain commanded, his face devoid of all emotions.

He looked down on her with a smirk as she cleaned his shoes, and after she was done, turned to his bodyguards and nodded in her direction, "take her to the basement, give her 15 lashes and no food for her today."

The maid bowed deeply in his presence, " please, your highness... Please forgive me," she sobbed.

He kicked her aside, then picked up the handkerchief with two fingers and threw it at a bodyguard. He pointed at the scarf with a scrunched up face and spat, "clean it."

The guard gave a quint nod and obediently cleaned it, then turned to look at Zain, waiting for his next orders.

He inspected the handkerchief before looking away, annoyed, "throw the handkerchief away and you," he pointed to another guard, "get me new shoes."

They did as they were told, and he changed the boots then continued down the halls, stopping in front of a mysterious room.
