After the tea party that the Marchioness had hosted, I left completely exhausted and tired, after talking to the duke's son and to the two children of the countess, I was completely drained. Is that what it means to hang out with children? Because it's actually pretty draining,
Adelaide had to carry me all the way to the carriage, it probably causes of the fact that I'm inside this tiny body of mine that I feel so drained and tired. No one told me being a child would be this tiring!!!
"Adelaide," I know this sounds childish, but, "Do you care about me?" I want to make sure of one thing without a doubt in my heart, I want someone to care for me even if it's not fatherly or motherly love or care. Just someone who cares for me, because in my life before no one did and I was left alone to fend for myself.
Adelaide hugs me with tears in her eyes and she smiles saying, "Of course Louise, Now go to sleep or you'll be exhausted tomorrow." and with that, I was pleased with her answer and fell back asleep.
~~~~~~~
I woke up to see the sun shining off from my windows and I caught the light trying to peek out through the curtains and doors, Adelaide was next to me her head was thrown off as if she were trying to sleep but couldn't. I sat up looking at Adelaide and then I felt a hair fall on my face, My hair was messy since I didn't want to shower last night or change clothes. I grab the mirror on my nightstand and look at my face, My eyes had become crimson red! How the heck did this happen?! What's wrong with my eyes?!
"Lady Louise? What's wrong...?"
"A-Adelaide...! My eyes!"
"Ah you scared me, Lady Louise, I thought you were hurt somewhere. The mana is leaking from you again according to the Duke's research."
"What...?"
"Your eyes always turn ruby red for a month because of the uncontrollable mana that is. Why do you look so surprised Lady Louise?"
So that means this'll be happening until the day I die...? What if I decide to go on a trip somewhere someday and people see me with these red eyes and don't recognize me?
"Adelaide," I'm pretty sure she knows what's going on, I need to know, "Do you know why this keeps happening every month?"
"L-Louise I..."
"Tell the truth," I say, My eyes were glowing through the mirror-bright red and it pierced through her face, I think I'm going too far. I sigh. "Fine, if you think a child like me can't handle it then you've underestimated me dear Adelaide, and you don't know what I'm really like," I say, I know I'm being a bit too harsh but not even my nanny that acts like my mother thinks I'm old enough to know what's happening.
"You may leave Adelaide," I want her to know that I am much more powerful than her I am her master but she's treating me like I'm just a child who wouldn't know how to take it in. Father probably told her to tell me, he's a genius and a genius father would have great expectations for their children, or so what I've read anyway.
"Yes, Lady Louise."
"Young Mistress is what you say," hoho I'm going to use this to my advantage though, I've never been able to have pride because it was ripped to shreds now I have my chance to rebuild it and to rebuild my mental state, since it's not at it's strongest right now.
"Yes...Young Mistress..." Adelaide says sad and disappointed, Ha! What you get for lying to me all this time because you thought I wouldn't ask! Father is probably gonna walk in, right about...Now.
"Louise, Why have you kicked Adelaide out, Is she not to your liking? I can replace her."
"Father, Adelaide is not a thing, she's my mother."
"I know Louise."
"She hasn't told me what's wrong with my eyes yet." I finally told him I have to turn around so he can see his demonic eyes before him I guess because he has a dark mana attribute he's acting like he is an evil man, but he's actually not. I turned around with a smug look on my face and then I showed him my eyes he stood there in what seemed to be confusion and shock. "What?"
"Adelaide, You didn't tell me this was today."
"Master, This just recently happened it will go away like before but I'm worried about her health."
"I can get rid of this, but her eyes will change color due to when she's mad since her attribute still hasn't been determined so she won't have control over her eye color changing to red." What? What is he even talking about? Does this mean that I can fix this weird eye color?! Yes!!!!
"Louise will have to be locked up every time this happens, Or she needs to control her anger. I'll call a physician and a mage to come to check up on her weekly."
Wait you're just leaving like that? What about my eyes?! You old man!! Come and fix my eyes at least!
"So can you finally tell me what's wrong with my eyes, Adelaide?"
"It seems that whenever your frustrated or angry your eye color changes due to the fact that you still do not have a mana attribute, this also happened to your father when he was younger, but this is different, it seems as though your mana is trying to free itself from your body and by doing so changes the color of your eyes," Adelaide seemed a bit nervous and worried, "And most children lose their eyesight when this happens.." She says stuttering. I sigh in exasperation.
Is that why she was worried? Did she really think I was going to go blind?
"I see, Well I won't be losing my eyesight. Can you help, Adelaide?"
"Yes Lady Louise!" she sang happily, the strands of her hair are getting on my face only my mothers* are allowed to do that! but you're an exception, Adelaide.
*Both Louise's and Soon-bok's mother.
"Adelaide, Can I read a few books on history? Please don't tell father yet, I want to learn on my own as well. Please?" I beg I made cute puppy eyes and a face nobody would be able to resist unless they're heartless and demons. hehehe, I'm sending you my light and I'm begging you! please?!
"Alright but please stop making that face Louise, I'm going to go blind." I sigh and turn to look back at her and she makes this adorable yet weird face, she looks like she's crying but biting her tears and lips back at the same time. She nodded agreeing.
'Louise...When did you grow up so fast..? I didn't see the change at all...!' The white-haired maid thought to herself sniffling, wiping her tears away from her pale cheeks.
