I wake up to warm arms wrapped around me, I panic for a minute before realizing it is only Nix. I guess I have to start getting used to being in the same bed as Nix. I need to enjoy the time we have together for as long as I can before the battle happens just in case, I don't make it. I haven't expressed my concerns about me possibly dying to the group because I know on some level both Nix and Daniel know it may happen.
I turn to Nix and kiss him on the cheek to wake him up. I can't wait until we have our first real kiss. My first kiss. Nix stirs and then opens his eyes to look at me and smiles.
"How was your sleep, love?"
"Pretty good, how was yours?"
"Best sleep I ever had."
I start to get out of bed to get ready, but Nix pulls me back down by my waist turning me to face him and hugs me close to his chest.
"Nix, we need to get ready and go," I tell him.
"Just five more minutes, I want to saver every minute we have together," his words are laced with sadness.
"Hey, don't think about that. Let's focus on one thing at a time, okay?"
He takes a deep breath, "Okay, let's get ready."
We both roll off the bed and head over to our bags to grab clothes for the day.
"Nix make sure you wear something black and leathery. We need to fit in and if this is the place for dangerous supernatural beings, that would make sense."
"Okay."
I grab out my black ripped jeans, dark blue bodysuit, and my black leather jacket. Nix puts on something similar. He is wearing black jeans, red muscle shirt, and a black leather jacket. He looks hot as all hell!
Nix walks up to me and puts his big hands on my small waist, "you look amazing!"
"You don't too bad yourself," I smile.
He chuckles, "come on, let's go find Daniel and Malik."
"What do you think of Malik?" I ask Nix.
"Well, he does act too young for his age, but I am just glad that he isn't another guy friend of yours," he chuckles slightly, but I can tell he is being serious.
"Come on, let's go."
We walk out into the hallway and see Daniel and Malik talking.
"Finally, we thought you guys would never get out of bed," Daniel says.
"Ha, ha," I say sarcastically, "Let's go."
We walk downstairs and decide to walk to Matericus, so the car isn't left there for who knows how long. We stand at the border of the city for a minute just looking though the trees. Everyone looks suspicious and it is like they all want to hurt someone.
"Holly crap," Malik whispers.
"What is it Malik?" I ask.
"I can sense what kind of supernatural they all are."
"That's new, you couldn't do that yesterday," Daniel states.
"I know, but they all have a coloured aura around them, and it symbolizes the different creatures."
"One second," is all I say.
I close my eyes and concentrate on seeing the supernatural's auras and the colour they represent. I open my eyes and see what Malik does. All the different shades of colours to represent the different creatures.
"Woah, this is so cool," I say, speaking my thoughts.
"What is it?" Malik asks.
"I can see them too," I reply.
"What? How?" Malik questions.
"I never thought about trying that power before, so I just unlocked it."
"Awesome!"
"What colour do I have?" Nix asks.
I look at him and see an orange aura that looks strong, probably because he is the alpha. I also see a glow around him, but no one else. It soon clicks in my head that this is because of the mate bond.
"Orange is for werewolves, yours is strong and vibrant to symbolize your alpha position. You also have a glow in my eyes because you are my mate."
He smiles, "we should go."
I nod and we all walk into the city. We are all instantly taken aback by the feeling we get from the city. Evil.
We try to ignore it the best we can, and we walk farther into the city.
'Malik, do you know where this bar is?'
'No, sorry. I only know that it is in this city.'
I nod while we continue to walk and then I hear Zane's voice in my head.
'I don't like this place; it creeps me out and I feel like something bad is going to happen.'
'I know, I feel it too.'
Both Zane and I are on high alert. I think all of us are. We continue walking cautiously through the streets of Matericus. I notice that Daniel is the only guide in this town so far. I haven't seen any other grey auras. I somehow know what all the aura colours mean, I see a lot of green auras which are Glara. We need to stay away from them because they can also tell what other supernaturals are. I see red auras, they are Ravenier Demons. I notice some blue auras which are Laren and when I look over at Malik, he has a half blue, half gold aura which symbolizes him being half Laren-half god.
'Hey Malik?'
'Yes?'
'What colour aura do I have?'
He looks over at me and then back to the street, 'very bright gold, looks very strong.'
'I have to try to cover that up and cover yours. No one can know that we are gods.'
He nods and I start trying to change Malik's aura first to all blue. As I look at him, I envision his aura fully blue. Slowly the colour takes over his aura leaving it entirely blue with no gold in sight. I then focus on myself. I try to change my aura to a strong orange, so I look like I am Nix's Luna.
'Is mine a strong orange now?' I ask Malik.
He looks over to me and nods to answer my question. Now we just continue to walk through the city, and we can't seem to find the bar anywhere. We may have to ask someone where it is, I really hope it doesn't come to that. After a couple hours, we are all getting tired of walking, so we stop at a coffee shop and get a table.
"This is getting frustrating," I say to the group.
"I know, how hard is it to find one simple bar?" Daniel says, shaking his head.
"Right?" Nix agrees.
"We have walked around the whole city, where is this place?" Malik asks.
I just shrug my shoulders at the question. Someone walks up to our table and sits at the end of it. We all turn our attention towards the person with the gold aura. This won't be good.
"So, you are looking for Haler?" they ask.
"Yes," I respond.
"Why?"
I look to the others who also don't know what to say. I think we can all feel the power coming off of this guy. The guy turns his attention to Daniel.
"Why is a guide here?"
"I am just having a good time man," Daniel responds.
The man's eyes scan over the rest of us, "Odd group you have here. Werewolves, a guide, and a Laren. There must be something going on."
"No, we are just trying to find the bar, we heard it has amazing drinks there," I reply.
"Mmhmm. Well, I can take you to the bar. My name is Grim, what are your names?"
Oh no, I remember this god from my book, and by the look on Daniel's face, it is true. He is the God of Sight and Destruction, he can see auras, get information about someone just by knowing their names, and has other powers that no one knows for sure what they are. Some believe he has pyrokinesis and telekinesis, others think he can blow up anything with the snap of his fingers. I hope everyone knows that they cannot give their real names.
"I am Tara, and this is my mate Lynx," I introduce.
He thinks for a moment, staying completely still. He looks suspicious, probably because he doesn't know our last names.
"I am Liam," Daniel says.
"I am Kiran," Malik holds out his hand.
To this all of our eyes widen in shock. If he touches you with permission, he knows who you are even if you didn't give him your name. I see Grim smirk and we need to think of something quickly.
I smack Malik's hand away just before Grim touches him, but Grim's hand brushes against mine. Hopefully he can't tell much about me.
"No need to be so formal Kiran," I say sternly, staring into Malik's eyes.
"Oops," is what he replies with.
I turn to face Grim once again to see him staring questioningly at me. Crap. What does he know?
"What?" I ask Grim, annoyance in my words.
"So, you're a werewolf, huh?"
"Yeah, so?"
"You are very powerful, are you an alpha?"
"That is none of your business."
There is a pause with a long silence that follows. Daniel is the first to speak up.
"We should probably get going, we want to get to the bar before it gets late."
"Right, follow me then."
Grim stands up and begins to walk out of the building, we all look at each other briefly and get out of the booth. We follow Grim to an empty alleyway which is strangely similar to the one where I went to in Time's Square. Of course, it is hidden with magic, why didn't I think of that? Grim walks up to the brick wall, placing a hand on it. A door appears and he opens it. We all make our way in and it is very dark. I use my night vision to see where we are headed. The only thing is that I have to be careful, using my night vision makes my eyes glow slightly. We continue to walk down the long dark hallway and the farther we walk, the more I feel like something bad is going to happen. I open a link to Zane first before the others. Zane is resting in my pocket.
'Do you feel like something bad is going to happen to?' I ask Zane.
'Yes, this isn't good.'
'Great, I will tell the others to be careful.'
'Good idea.'
I open a link to Daniel, Malik, and Nix.
'Guys, something bad is going to happen, I want you all being careful. If anything happens, you cannot tell them who you really are or why we are really here. Stick to the original story from the restaurant.'
'Okay, be safe,' Daniel replies.
'I will always protect you,' Nix says.
'Thanks for the heads up,' Malik responds, I can hear the slight fear in his voice.
I will never be able to forgive myself is something happens to Malik or the rest of my friends. It is my fault they are all here. Grim suddenly stops moving and turns to face us, looking directly at me. I feel the presence of quite a few other people.
"Now," he says.
These people seized us and took us through a door to a bunch of cells. They throw us all in separate cells, next to each other.
"That was easy, you all can leave now and make sure guards are put on all of the cells. I am going to talk with the girl," Grim orders.
He walks up to the cell I am in and walks inside. I back up against the wall where there is the tiniest crack in the corner. I take Zane out of my pocket in his gecko form and put him on the wall, being careful that Grim doesn't notice. Hopefully Zane can get some help in case I can't get us out of here. Zane squeezes through the little hole and scurries off.
"What do you want with us?" I ask, no expression on my face.
"I want to know why you are really here and what you are."
"We already told you that we are here to look for Haler. I also know for a fact that you can see my aura and can tell that I am a werewolf. There isn't anything else to explain."
"It is true that your aura says you are a werewolf; however, the power I felt when I touched you, no werewolf has that much power. I am going to ask you again, what are you?"
I decide to stay quiet and stare blankly at Grim. How do I convince him, if I shift, he will be able to tell that it is not a physical shift, but a magical transformation? I am snapped out of my thoughts when Grim's fist connects with my jaw.
"Tell me!" he demands.
"No."
He punches me again, this time in the ribs causing me to double over. He takes this moment to punch me in my temple, this makes me lose my balance and I fall to the ground. Grim kicks me in the rib's multiple times, I can feel my ribs cracking and breaking with each kick. I can faintly hear Nix's screams from another cell, but I am on the verge of passing out and my head is pounding so loud, I cannot make out what he is saying.
"I will be back tomorrow," Grim says as he stomps his foot on my head causing me to fall into unconsciousness.
