It was a beautiful Friday evening, everyone was cheerful, especially me because, who doesn't love Friday? My best friends and I were all in the living room watching television with some of our peers, who I don't talk to.
Life at the orphanage wasn't hard if you ask me. I mean it is better than what I was expecting. Movies make orphanages look like a bad place to be in, that's why I had mixed feelings about going to an orphanage. I was actually very lucky to be in a very good orphanage. I heard most orphanages maltreat children.
School was more than tough, isn't it always? I wonder why children have to spend six solid hours in school learning what won't be useful.
I mean who needs maths? Why are we calculating triangles and squares? I feel school is a waste of time. It's practically useless.
"Let's play truth or dare guys!"
A blonde haired girl we called Brittany suggested excitedly from the other side of the room. Brittany was beautiful but was a chicken when it came to standing up for herself. I wonder why someone like her would be having insecurities.
I nudged my two best friends, they know I never miss a game of truth or dare.
In this orphanage they know me as the dare devil, I never said no to a dare. Not even the yuckiest of them. I was pretty weird but nothing was making me destroy my record. I hate being weak, it reminds me of my Dad.
All the children in the orphanage gathered around and we sat on the floor in a circle.
Brittany got a bottle and put it in the middle of the circle we created and she spun the bottle. The bottle stopped at Chloe, I never really payed any attention to her because of how she is.
"Chloe truth or dare?"
Brittany asked her, no one really messed with Chloe, they were scared. But I, I could put my feet in a crocodiles mouth and the crocodile would scram. That doesn't make sense does it?
"Truth."
Chloe replied icily looking straight at Brittany, who I assumed had already pissed her pants.
"Ah..... umm.. your turn."
Chloe smiled at her. Brittany is a wimp.
Chloe didn't bother spinning the bottle, she feels like a Queen.
She called my name.
"Cassy?"
I smiled at her,
"Yeah,"
"Truth or dare?"
I studied her features closely, then I finally chose an answer.
"Dare."
"I dare you to be a boy for a week."
I smiled at her. Chloe was a mean girl in the orphanage and everywhere she went. She looked like a plastic Barbie. No Barbie is prettier. The thing is Chloe and I are actually frenemies, we talk sometimes but she made it clear that I don't meet her standards.
"So are you up for the challenge?"
"Duhhh. They don't call me dare devil for nothing. Next week I would do the dare."
She smiled at me as if she had something under her sleeve, she always keeps me on my toes. I gave her my best bring it on face but I was actually scared if you ask me.
