Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

A young girl sat, propped against a wall with her knees drawn over her face, her head buried in her lap and her arms crossed over her legs, rocking back and forth. She was sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. Blaise heaved his drenched body up and slowly sauntered towrds her. She was bleeding heavily from her leg.

"Well hello there, little girl." He purred gently. His eyes roamed her scantly clad body. Prostitute. Figures.

She cringed further into the corner. He lifted his hand and ran it through her pastel pink hair. It stuck lightly to his fingertips, still slick with the men's crimson lifeline.

"I ain't gonna hurt ya." Her head lifted and she met his eyes.

"Y-you're not?" She was still shaking, but seemed to believe him.

Her gaze held his. Those eyes seemed to stir something inside him. They made him feel real. Made him feel normal. Made him feel human again. For the first time in a long, long time he actually felt human again.

He swallowed and ran a wet hand through his hair. "Nah I'm kinda full by now anyway." A lie, but who said vampires had to be honest. "Why were you crying? I mean before I uh..." She nodded to her leg. How had he already forgotten? Must have been those damn eyes.

"Oh right. I-er...Allow me? She flinched when he bared his fangs, but then he lifted his wrist to his mouth and cut the pale skin. A small cut opened, gushing blood. The contrast of the dark liquid, the life of the night, against the steely-white pallor of his flesh was starkly intense.

He offered her his wrist, a peace offering. "Drink. It'll help. Promise." His deep red eyes sparkled in the moonlight. They twinkled with sincerity. Tentatively, she raised her mouth to the cut and sucked.

When she lifted her head, the gash on her leg was gone completely.

"Look I'm sorry about all of the er... you know. When I get like that I just..." She smiled at him and put her hand on his shoulder.

"It's okay. You don't have to explain. I've seen some messed up stuff in my day. And anyways, you saved me!" She was comforting him and that seemed so wrong to Blaise. His brow furrowed and his hand moved to cup her face gently. They stayed like that for a few minutes, gazing into each other's eyes. Then he closed the distance and kissed her fully on the lips, slowly at fist, then picking up speed and passion. For a minute, everything seemed to disappear. For a minute, they were the only two people in the world. For a minute , he forgot who he was. For a minute, he lost control. Those two blades of death slid down from their sheaths in his gums and peirced her lip. They broke appart as he pulled back, wiping the blood from his lip.
