Chereads / Klhans / Chapter 2 - ~Chapter 1~

Chapter 2 - ~Chapter 1~

Who am I?

It's a question I often ask myself.

What am I?

I can feel a presence superior to my own. Is it my soul, a spirit coming to possess me?

I do not know. In fact I do not know anything; not about who I am...what I am.

My whole life I was forced to make difficult decisions. It's nothing new to me. My decisions got me where I am now.

I gaze into the lifeless eyes of both a man and the dark dragon towering over him.

"Tell me princess...are you afraid of me?"

I was. I was completely terrified! However this is the sacrifice I have to make for my people and my home. Most importantly the ones...I have lost.

"No. Of course not," I spoke. The lack of confidence in my voice was evident.

"It's been five hundred years of war. I'm sure there's a few things you'd like to say to me."

MONSTER.

I didn't say anything, only keeping my head lowered so he wouldn't see the rage within my cerulean irises.

Several minutes had passed before he sighed, "how disappointing."

Standing up in front of me he turned and started to walk off into the distance.

"To think that an entire Klhan should lie in the hands of a pathetic little girl."

Glimpses of images from past memories began to claw their way out of the darkness of my mind. He was right...I am pathetic.

The blood, the fire.

Mother...?

A laugh escaped my mouth, "Pathetic? You might be right."

He stopped dead in his tracks, only glancing back at me from the corner of his eyes.

"So then your darkness," I asked, "...defeat me, I dare you!"

The dragon that was trailing behind him was now face to face with me. Growls and hisses presenting themselves through the magnificence of its sharp white teeth. Its long body snaking around me; there is no escape.

His body was now fully turned towards me, his eyes possessing a misty glow. His mouth was etched into a broken mischievous smile.

"All in good time...my Calla Lily."

My body was trembling uncontrollably. Fear evident in my eyes as his dragon darted towards me. I couldn't move. I could scream. I couldn't fight. How pathetic, all I could conjure in the depths of my mind was a quiet no.

I closed my eyes, I didn't want to know what was going to happen next. A pain radiated within me as if death consumed my soul.

"I'll ask you again. Are you-."

"No." I seethed.

A new found confidence radiated through my body; power surging through my veins. There was nothing but mischief in those disgustingly lifeless irises and a smirk lay on his face. And through his eyes I could see that mine had radiated a cerulean glow.

The once intimidating dark dragon of his was now nowhere in sight. Instead there was a white dragon...my dragon? Her fiery blue flames surrounded us and I continued.

"It is you who is afraid."
