Chapter 6 - The Heritage

Vishwaprit's vehicle reached city limits by morning. The chilling winds were injecting their bones. It wasn't dawn yet, so they couldn't see the mist which was slowly surrounding the city. Slowly, but gradually!

They reached the stay house after a couple of hours. The sun had risen from East, slicing the thick curtain of the mist entering from the west.

They got inside the house, and arranged their belongings as per requirement. They had brought all types of weapons available. They had no idea what kind of weapons they needed to bring the monsters down. Vishwaprit had brought his mother's box along, which he had found in the inventory.

He reopened the box and took the book which written in sanskrit. He could understand sanskrit a little bit because of his royal heritage. He opened the book and started reading it. Suddenly he heard Setupati's voice.

"What's that box?"

He looked at Setupati and hesitantly answered,

"It's.....ummm. Those are my mother's belongings. Father had kept it in the inventory after her death. I found it the other day."

"And why have you brought it here?" Setupati asked curiously.

"Setu, what do you know about my mother?" Vishwaprit asked him a counter question instead of answering.

"Your mother, means our late queen?"

"Hmm"

"Nothing, other than she wasn't from a royal family. But your family still accepted her without hesitation."

"Anything else?" Vishwaprit wanted something more.

"I had heard something from my father while with his friends that she was from some Sadhu's (sage man) daughter. Kind of pure form of God's power." Setupati tried to share whatever information he had.

"And how my father met her?"

"I don't any idea about it. But Bhishu can have that information. He was around your father when he got married. We can asm him." Setupati suggested.

"Let's go and ask him", Vishwaprit was eager to know about his mother. Somethings were bothering his mind and he wanted to clear his mind before getting into any fights.

"What's important about it? We're here because, the ancient enemy is going to wipe us all down from existence, and you're worried about your mother's family history. Why? What's it in your mind?" Setupati couldn't understand Vishwaprit.

"I need to know. I feel that she is very much connected to all this." Vishwaprit was troubled.

"She may be or may not be connected to all this, but she is gone now. We can talk about her later when everything will be settled." Setupati was getting angry now. He wanted Vishwaprit to understand the value of time. The enemy was on their doorstep.

"And what if this fight, our fate is decided by her identity? Why I feel that I need to know about her?"

"It's because you miss her."

"No. It's not about missing. I really think that we should know about her. Look at this box. There are a lot of things which unfamiliar to us. These books in strange language, what is all this? Was she some kind of witch? Or was she a sorcerer?" He tried to explain Setupati.

Setupati looked into the box. He also found the box's belongings strange.

"Fine, we will ask Bhishu if he knows anything." He agreed.

They grabbed few books from the box, which were written in unknown language and went to talk to Bhishu.

********

"Lord, I never got to have a conversation with late queen, but I have seen her few times upclose." Bhishu answered to Vishwaprit.

"How was she like?" Vishwaprit asked.

"She was a goddess. A pure form of positive energy. People used to say that, the bad people couldn't even look into her eyes directly. People worshipped her. She was a great woman." Bhishu told them about the queen with immense love and respect.

"But why did my father marry my mother? I mean why her? Why not any princess or an heir from a rich family?" Vishwaprit asked his doubt.

Setupati asked surprisingly,

"What kind of doubt is this? Your father loved your mother. That's why ge married het. He met her when he had gone to attend a ceremony at his distant relative. She was the daughter of a sage man who performed the rituals at the ceremony. She was accompanying her father. Your father met her there the first time and fell in love with her. Later they got married after family's formalities. And her father passed away immediately after their marriage. Because of our cursed families, she had to grow through hardships too."

Vishwaprit heard Setupati carefully.

And asked,

"And did she have any special kind of abilities? Like a sorcerer?"

"I don't think she had any abilities."

"Then why does she have these absurd books?" Setupati asked with frustration.

Bhishu looked at the books and got shocked.

"I have seen this language. I met a powerful Shastriji (a sage man) once. He had such books with him. We can ask him."

He remembered something and said, "we can actually go and meet him if we have time."

Vishwaprit wasn't satisfied, but he pretended to be happy about Bhishu's suggestion and headed back to his room.

His aura was getting stronger and Setupati felt something unusual about him. He felt the heat of his eternal powers around him, but he also experienced hints of darkness in it. Setupati couldn't decide what was wrong and he also headed towards his room.

The enemy hadn't started an attack yet. Setupati would've felt it if he did. He was waiting for him to act first. And he was also waiting to find any possible connection with the one who was promised by gods. If they were meant to find him, Setupati was the one who could have sensed him first. But he hadn't yet. He had to wait, and he was getting impatient.

*********

Raghav tried to reach Vishwaprit all day long, because Shastriji asked them to. But he couldn't. He was unreachable. They didn't have any other option, but to take the responsibility in their own hands. They made a special classified team to tackle the situation, and alerted all the police departments in the city about the situation, calling it an predicted terrorist activity. They collected all useful weapons and decided to catch the people instead of killing them who will try to attack the city. They were ready and were tired of waiting for the enemy. Hence, they decided to meet the enemy upfront. They left the station in the full awareness of the situation, in the direction Shastriji informed them about.

********

Shastriji was gathering sacred gurus to decide their reaction to the supposed attack from the enemy. But, the enemy was a mistake of the dark lord, who had let him lose from his grips. They were aware of dark lord's powers but they also knew that the dark lord was afraid of them. They, together, can hold him down, if they want to.

Gathering was serious and tedious, as no one alive among them had faced such a situation before. Where, the enemy was from another world and the person who have ability to save them, the dark lord, was the bad guy from their own world. And the one promised by the gods, was nowhere to be found. So, they decided to at least confront coming enemy and meet him face to face in the war, if that's the only option to end this. They gathered their required belongings and left to meet the enemy. Shastriji looked at all the gurus and said with pride,

"If we're going to die in the hands of this enemy, we better die with honour!"

His eyes were filled with fire of rage. He was not going to let win him that easily.

*******

It was about an evening, but still there wasn't any movement from the enemy. The suspense was killing them. Setupati's head was bursting with pressure. He closed his eyes to find the enemy's location. His mind was able to hear every being who was capable of telepathic communication. In the midst of all, he heard the strange thoughts. Somebody was thinking very loudly, about the same things he was worried about. And suddenly he understood why. It was none other than Vishwaprit, whose thoughts caught his attention. He was surprised to know that Vishwaprit had the ability to transfer his thoughts telepathically. He tried to figure out how, but he didn't have enough time. He ignored Vishwaprit's loud thoughts and focused on the enemy. The enemy was going to reach the city any minute now. But why hadn't he attacked yet? He should have crossed the few villages. But he hadn't attacked. He kept observing him. The enemy's movements were getting noticeably strong and suspicious with the sun getting down. He finally realized enemy's weakness. The mist wasn't able to turn the people into monsters in the presence of the Sun. So, the moment sun goes down, the enemy was going to start preying. He broke his thoughts and walked fiercely towards Vishwaprit, who was sitting all tensed.

"Vishwa, we got to move. I know how and when he is going to attack."

Vishwaprit looked at him with surprise and relief.

"The enemy cannot act in the presence of sunlight. He is going to start at sundown." Setupati warned them.

"I will inform the fighters from Kailasi and Vindya kingdom to move. We have very less time to reach. We got to leave now." They were the only kingdoms who had responded to their call for aid.

"Bhishu, we have to leave now. Gather all, and move."

Vishwaprit ordered all to get started. He was feeling unusually confident. The rage of anger towards the enemy was burning his body. He wanted to meet him and finish him once in for all.

*******

It had been an hour since Raghav and team had left the building. Ganesh was following him from another vehicle. All of the officers with them, were scared to death. Some were chanting shlokas. The situation was intense and terrifying. He had warned all of them not to get too close to the enemy. They had brought the tranquilizer to make the turned people unconscious, so that they can catch them without killing. That was the only quick option they found.

They were getting closer and closer, towards the death.

******

Vishwaprit and team had also left the house now. They were going to reach within an hour. It was going to be sundown soon. All were scared to death, except Vishwaprit. His eyes were filled with determination.

Bhishu looked at his lord once more to make sure he was okay.

******

Raghav was going to reach within few kilometres but the mist got them first. The chilly cold breeze made their bodies ache. He rotated his shoulder to get ready to fight. But he heard some screams from the car behind him. He looked back with surprise and the scene he got to witness was horrifying.

The police officer from the car had held his colleague's neck into his hands, was trying to bite him. The officer used all his strength to stop him. The rogue officer bit on his right hand monsterously, the officer screamed in pain. He grabbed his injured hand with his another hand kept screaming with pain and fear. The rogue officer then grabbed his neck and bit him hard. The officer tried to resist but couldn't, the blood jets scattered everywhere, and all the other officers started screaming in panic.

Ganesh gathered himself within time, grabbed the tranquilizer in the hand and pressed it against the monster's neck. The monster looked at Ganesh with hate and tried to reach him, but his body collapsed before reaching. All the other officers were alerted as well as scared to the situation. Thank God, no one else among them turned into monsters.

Raghav tightened his grip on his tranquilizer gun and focused in the fog and darkness. He would have loved to be Kalshrung right now. But he was in a duty.

He heard someone screaming to death on the left side of the road.

******

Vishwaprit and team just encountered the misty and foggy chill. It was bone chillingly horrifying moment for all. But Vishwaprit's body was burning with anger.

Suddenly, he heard the screaming on the road ahead. They were reaching towards the sound. A rogue monster, a  normal looking person, was making horrible sounds and was trying to kill innocent people on the road. They stopped their vehicles and jumped down the car. They had brought the spray guns to make the enemies unconscious from the distance. Vishwaprit pointed the guns towards the normal looking monster, and sprayed. It didn't do much effect. The monster noticed Setupati and tried to reach him. Now, Vishwaprit fiercely kicked the monster from the side and sprayed right into his nose. He made unusual sounds and fell unconscious on the ground.

They asked the people to get away from the fog and stay inside the house.

Now they stood there to think what to next. But suddenly they heard more screams, from their right as well as from there left. They split into teams and ran towards the sound.

Vishwaprit and Setupati headed towards the right. They saw a bunch of monster people running wild. They had killed some innocents already. There bodies were lying on the ground. Vishwaprit felt the heat vapouring out from his body. He wanted to kill those monsters, but they were also victims, hence he controlled his killing urges and held the spraying gun tighter to fire. They hadn't reached the enemies yet, and heard the sound of screamings from their back. Some monsters had attacked from the back. The one guy from there team, lost his control and hit the monster with the axe in his hands. The monster fell down on the ground, but few more came following him. The fighters now gathered their wits and started spraying on the enemy.

Vishwaprit saw his fighters handling the situation well despite of one killing. He felt satisfied, but suddenly he heard the screams of his own teammates. Setupati was trying to put down the monster with spray couldn't. Another monster was trying to kill Vishwaprit. But he sprayed him down in time.

Now the enemies were attacking from everywhere. They all got panicked and scared. The slice of death was one strike away from them. The situation was getting out of their hands. The monsters kept coming their direction. The fighter's courage was getting thinner and thinner. Vishwaprit was trying hard to dodge the attacks and putting the monsters down. But still it wasn't enough. For a brief moment, he thought he was going to die, but someone saved him. But another monster attacked him at the same time. They were getting weaker. Monsters were getting the upper hand. His body started to feel the cold from the chilly winds. His eyes went hopeless. He didn't want to end it this way. He wasn't ready to die yet. He had to fight. He kept fighting, but fighting was getting tougher and tougher. Suddenly he heard the sound of gun fire and the monster in front of him fell unconscious on the ground. He looked at the direction of the gun fire. An organized team of police was approaching, firing tranquilizer, which were quite effective to make the monsters unconscious.

Vishwaprit looked at the man holding gun skillfully and was able to get every shot count. He got impressed by the man and he started to fight again. The monsters kept coming towards them from every direction. And they kept fighting them. The fight was getting intense and intense. The fighters from humanity side were losing their stamina. The monsters kept approaching them. The enemy had gathered quite a bit of monsters from the city and villages within few hours. These monsters had killed several innocent people before reaching there. Vishwaprit felt the weight of dead people in his mind. He realised the strength of the enemy. The difference between the number of enemies and their fighters was getting higher and higher, even though they had put down plenty of them. They kept appearing out of nowhere.

One powerful monsters kicked one of Vishwaprit's fighter so hard, that he stumbled back on Setupati, who made Vishwaprit fell down on the ground. He lost his spray gun while falling down.

Vishwaprit lost his focus and one of the monster tried to take an advantage of the situation. He jumped towards Vishwaprit and tried to attack him with his hands. Vishwaprit rolled on his side to dodge him. Bhishu saw his master on the ground and screamed,

"Maharaj!"

Everybody looked at Vishwaprit on the ground with fear of his death.

But, Vishwaprit then grabbed the hand of the monster with his left hand and grabbed his neck with the right. He hadn't touched the enemy yet. This was the first. He was trying to make him unconscious by grabbing his neck. But the enemy was inhumanly powerful to put down. Suddenly, he felt a crazy wave of heat from his body. And he pulled the monster's face towards him, looking right into his eyes. The fire from Vishwaprit's eyes and body was burning the monster down from inside. The red eyes of the monster started to turn brown suddenly. He stopped moving, the urge of killer from his eyes changed into fear and confusion. He kept looking at Vishwaprit for a moment with wide eyes and fell unconscious on the ground.

Everybody was looking at the scene with awe and surprise. They were afraid for Vishwaprit's death and something unexpected happened. Who was he? Raghav thought.

'Was he Vishwaprit?'

He guessed him right. But what kind of trick did he use? He couldn't believe his eyes.

But Vishwaprit had grabbed another monster and made him human too. He didn't lose his consciousness but was quite shocked. He knelt down to Vishwaprit and tears flew down from his eyes. Vishwaprit wasn't in the condition to accept his gratitude. He grabbed two more of the monsters and brought them back to humanity.

A group of monsters now ran towards Vishwaprit after seeing him doing unusual things. Vishwaprit looked at them for a moment. His eyes locked into theirs, one by one. Their eyes got hypnotised by his. He then screamed at them like a mad man and jumped towards them. They all turned into humans before he even touched them. The rage of his fire made the monsters inside them run away.

Everybody was looking at Vishwaprit unbelievably, but they kept fighting alongside him. Now the humans getting upper hand. The monsters couldn't hold their stance against them. There were hundreds of bodies of unconscious monsters lying down.

After an intense three hour fighting, they finally successfully put down all the monsters. Few monsters were killed in the self defence of the fighters. They had lost two of their fighters and one from police force. It was quite a battle. They collected all of the monsters and tied them together.

Everybody kept looking at Vishwaprit curiously. Setupati was getting it now. He was also shocked to know the truth. But Vishwaprit was confused on his own. He finished his job and sat down on the big stone, with his eyes closed. Setupati reached him slowly and put his hand on his shoulder. He felt the high temperature of his body in his hand. He carefully collected his words and said,

"Vishwa, I don't know how, but you're the one we were looking for. You're the one who can save us from this evil. You're the promised one. You've the part of God inside you, also a part of dark lord.  And you're born as a human. You can gather the Power from all three realms. You're the one."

Vishwaprit kept looking at Setupati with blank eyes. He understood the situation, but couldn't believe it.

"How can it be?" He shouted.

Setupati stopped for a moment before answering. But someone else answered instead.

"I can tell you how."

Everybody looked at the direction of the sound. Shastriji was walking towards them, with all the gurus beside him.
