Chapter 7 - This is What Heartbreak Feels Like (1)

Arriving at the place, Kay sat in front of the tree where the guitar case was leaning.

"By the way, my name is Kayua Cornell, but you just call me Kay. And you, what's your name?" He asked her casually.

"My name is Zoey, Zoey Lynn. I came to live here with my aunts just a few days ago. "

"Oh, this is cool! If you need a guide you can call me. I know everything around four blocks from here."

"Hohoho looks like we have a real human GPS here," said Zoey joking.

"It's one of my many skills."

They enjoy that silly conversation.

Zoey feels strange in this new city.

She came to her aunt's house to starts live in this new city because her parents just divorced and her mother's income was not enough to provide them properly.

Luckily, her mother's sister (the aunt) had a big house and a good stable job. Living alone, she was willing to open the doors of her home to host the pair of mother and daughter.

Despite finding a support pillar in this hard situation, Zoey cannot help but be affected by everything that was happening.

The divorce, a new home, a new city, no close friends.

Having to start social life again from zero is problematic, especially when it was not your best competence.

Today she wakes up early and felt a little lost.

She then decided to read a book, but being at home was driving her crazy, Was because of this she goes to the park to read outdoors.

What she doesn't expect to happen is that she would be approached by an unknown. For a short moment, she thought it would be someone hitting on her, but soon realized that it was just someone needing a little help.

He was a bit handsome and looked a nice person, but there was something else that caught her attention in this guy.

His eyes were the eyes of someone who cried a lot.

It didn't seem very obvious, but she was an expert in that sort of thing.

It is not like that she was particularly proud to have this particular ability. Thanks to the constant fights of her parents, she started to be able to notice when her mother cried, even when she tried hard to hide it.

So she was able to say that this boy cried a lot recently.

But there he was now, smiling and talking happily.

It may be that what made him cry was nothing too serious. Maybe just a scolding from the parents, or even losing a match on an online game.

But for some reason, looking like this young man's looks made her think that it doesn't matter what... She should go on.

Perhaps this is what they call indirect motivation. Exactly because of this, she decided to help the boy who indirectly gives her motivation.

Kay was in position.

"Yes, almost, just a little bit higher. I want to take the angle a little low, but not too much. " Kay was guiding Zoey to find the best angle.

"Like this?"

Zoey adjusts the camera angle according to the request.

"Yes, this is perfect."

The perfect angle has been found. He, the tree, and the guitar case were perfectly framed.

The morning sunlight hit the treetops and cast leaf shadows and sunlight light rays of under Kay.

He then closed his eyes to focus.

Kay remembered his relationship, every moment. The happy moments, the sad moments, and the moment that everything came to an end.

When he opened his eyes, they were a little damp, but he didn't wipe it off.

"Now you can start recording." He said towards Zoey.

For a second Zoey had frozen. What could he be thinking that made him suddenly so sad?

But she didn't ask and just press the button to start recording.

Kay then began to play the introduction of the song with mastery.

He was very familiar with it, so he doesn't found anything difficult to play.

Soon after the short intro, he starts singing.

"Crawling down the street / Used to be bright / and I hoped to god The cracks would shed some light / Further into this old story town / You'd think that I could tell you more / But there's none"

"To tell you / What I would do / To turn the table / But I don't wanna turn to what you are becoming / and I see / All you've done for me / If you'd told me this would end as soon as it all started / I would have found the rest of me But I guess I'm just not there"

"I would, I wou-wou-would, ooh I would"

"I would've found it quicker but you came / In a foreign way I'm thankful for the days / When you played with my heart, all the pain / Built up in my lungs halfway / And now, I know the words that left our names"

"To tell you / What I would do / To turn the table / But I don't wanna turn to what you are becoming / and I see / All you've done for me / If you'd told me this would end as soon as it all started / I would have found the rest of me But I guess I'm just not there"

"Give your heart but keep your head / Give your heart but keep your head up x4"

"To tell you / What I would do / To turn the table / But I don't wanna turn to what you are becoming / and I see / All you've done for me / If you'd told me this would end as soon as it all started / I would have found the rest of me But I guess I'm just not there"

"I would, I wou-wou-would~ x3 / I would"

Kay finished his performance and was surprised.

He said it would only be 3 minutes, but he didn't believe he could get it right the first time.

He managed to finish his performance with no apparent error. If that was what 6 points in music could do, he couldn't wait to add more.

He then looked at Zoey and saw that she was like a statue and had not yet paused the video.

"Err ... Zoey?! You can now stop recording now. " He reminded her.

"Han?!" She blinked and stood still for another second, but soon remembered what she was doing and quickly paused the video.

She was really in shock right now.

"That was incredible, you sing and play so well and your voice is very beautiful. It's like I'm listening to a professional, " Said Zoey

"Thank you! ~" Kay thanked timidly.

"Kay, this ... this song ... whose song is this?" She asked with extreme curiosity. She had never heard such a beautiful and captivating song before, she needed to know the singer's other work.

"Hehe, this song is one of my compositions." He replied with an embarrassed smile as he scratched his head.

Zoey, she was shocked and didn't know how to respond.

Did he compose that song?
