The air was cold and smelled of vanilla, Pine's pink hair blew in front of her face. The skies were a sickly green color with damp looking grey clouds. Decaying bodies swayed in the trees, a subconscious thought told her they were treats for the beast with no name. The ground was mushy as the grass hugged her bare feet. Her night gown was covered in a dark liquid substance that smelled of melting butter and rotting flesh. Timed moved so slowly as she wandered the mushy field, a boy stares at her in the distance with wondering eyes. Pine carefully approached him, he felt safe and warm. They both reached out and touched fingertips, a rush of cold went up her freckled arm and she shutters. "You feel...different, you feel sad," the strange boy said softly. Pine takes a moment to look at his face His skin was dirty and a sick pale color with deep bags under his golden eyes. She was shocked by his words, but, was even more shocked when his dirty hands wiped tears from her eyes. "Don't be sad girl, this is a place of peace,".
Pine finally shook her silence but her voice was quiet "sir, there are bodies all around and the sky is sick! How is it a place of peace?". She tried to look into his eyes but they were partly covered because of his sudden movement, she had barely noticed he jumped from her voice. He was clearly used to silence.
"Well...because they are not real, the bodies aren't real."
"They are fake?"
"we are all fake here, we are real people but this place is fake"
"what?" everything started to sway, she felt sick so suddenly. She reached out for him again as he began to sway as well. The ground cracked under her feet as she fell through the hollow ground as the sky flickered and swirled.
She sat up in bed, sweating, panting, and gripping her thin covers. Pine looked around her room for the boy, the bodies but it was just her damp and dirty room. She looked at the covered windows and tried to look through the cracks in the boards. But, it was no use, it was all perfectly covered inside and out. She looked around again before sitting back in her bed, raising her hand to her cheek she felt tears, had she been crying? She didn't even notice.
