Chereads / Beast Within / Chapter 4 - New Life

Chapter 4 - New Life

A/N: Chapter names are boring I know. I'm not too focused on those right now.

I'm also going to try a different writing style? See how it goes and which one works better for this story.

As the sun began to rise Nyc grew more worried for his new pupil. She wouldn't wake up, and he knew she was stuck in the depths of her mind, hiding from the cold reality she now faces.

He tried to coax her into coming back but he truly didn't know if his voice reached her. He's just grateful that her wolf grew tired and is now asleep with a full stomach of deer meat; which gave her time to still come back. He really didn't want to kill her, but if she let her wolf take control he'd have no choice.

Nyc waited patiently, observing her beast form. Her fur was a vanilla blonde color, unnatural for a lycan but not impossible. She was a great deal smaller than his beast, and unlike him her skin wasn't covered in scars. Her nose was a faint pink and she had a short muzzle but those were common female lycan traits.

What really got to Nyc about her was not her physical appearance though, in either form. Granted he found her attractive but what really hit him was her intoxicating scent. It violated his nostrils but he couldn't get enough of it. It brought weird feelings to rise within him, but the only one he recognized was arousal. His wolf desired to mount her but he fought off his wolfs urges.

Nyc reclined into his thoughts and didn't notice when Rays eyes began to flutter open.

Feeling disoriented Ray tried her best to focus on her surroundings, however she was overwhelmed with many scents and noises. She could hear many bugs scurrying around her and in trees, or in the ground beneath her, she could also smell the thick scent of dirt and grass, or the Breathing of a rabbit sleeping peacefully in its den. When she opened her eyes, everything came to her in blue, purple, gray and black and slight hints of a teal green. But she could see things that were far and would normally be blurry.

The attack on her senses hurt her head she quickly stood up, hearing an animalistic whimper escape her mouth.

Nyc was startled out of his thoughts as she suddenly moved, he sensed her panic and called out to her.

"Ray, calm down, I'm right here and you're still in your lycan form."

Her ears twitched as he spoke and she turned her head to face him, she towered over him in this form. She tilted her head and stared at him, her eyes wide glowing a bright forest green. She let out another whimper as response to Nyc, unable to actually speak to him.

"You need to calm down if you wsnt to change back. I'm sure the increase in your senses are overwhelming but you gotta shut that out, focus on calming down..." Nyc spoke to her softly and gently, keeping eye contact as he spoke to help her relax.

Eventually he watched her breathing slow to a normal pace and she looked at him questioningly.

"Alright now focus and think of your other form, imagine changing into that form, your bones, muscle and flesh melding back into it original place..."

She did as he instructed and within minutes she stood before him naked and covered in dry blood.

She opened her eyes, and upon realizing she was nude, she quickly covered her breasts and mound.

"Uhm, why am I covered in blood? And where is that robe?" She raised her brows expectantly at him concern visible I'm her eyes.

Nyc handed her the robe and turned around so she could slip it on as well as amswer her question, "the blood is from deer. Always remember that you  need to hunt regularly to feed your lycan half. If you don't, you will have a painfully forced shift so it can feed itself."

Ray got herself covered as she listened and gave a simple "oh... Good to know. Can we leave the woods now?"

Nyc tunred to face her, "yes. Follow me."

The walk was silent at first. Nyc wanting to give her time to think. But once they got back to his junk car and started off the road to what they would both be calling home he decided to question her.

"How are you feeling physically right now?"

Ray was silent for a moment, taking a mental observation of her body, "I feel fine... But my head hurts. The noises and the smells are overwhelming. And I'm not used to being able to see things this clear."

Nyc nodded as she spoke, "well..." He said when she finished, "you'll have to get used to it. As a lycan you're abilities advance a bit. But your senses are probably gonne be the most noticeable. But your stamina, strength and endurance have all also taken a drastic advance. As well as you're hunger and reflexes."

Ray listened carefully, understanding that Nyc was going teacher on her and informing her of her new self.

"Also," he added "you can see spirits as well as traces of magical use."

"What do you mean 'magical use?'"

"Magic is obviously real, Ive mentioned that and you were used for it. But when someone uses magic it leaves a... Stain if you will. If the magic is used for dark intentions it leaves a thick gooey essence and smells putrid. But if the magic is used with good intentions, it has more of a watery essence and has a bittersweet scent."

Ray nodded her head but gave no response to Nyc and the rest of the drive was silent.

About twenty minutes later Nyc pulled his car into the make shift driveway. Really his place was nothing more than a room, and was secluded from the nearby town, his driveway was nothing more than a dead lawn covered with weeds and dirt.

Ray internally flinched at the sight of Nycs home. She missed her apartment, and wasn't used to such a sight.

"Is this really where you live?" She asked turning to Nyc as he shut off his car.

"It's a hideout more than anything. My actual residence is no where near here."

Ray felt slightly relieved. Perhaps they wouldn't always be here and he'd take her to his actual home. For now she new she'd have to get used to it. Luckily she already knew the inside looked nicer then outside.

The two exited the car and went inside, "you can take a shower, there are already towels in the bathroom. I will take you to get clothes and other necessities later today. For now you can borrow a shirt of mine shorts. Tomorrow I will begin teaching you of what you are now and how to coexist with the wolf within you."

"Alright...thank you," Ray replied and Nyc reached into his nightstand and tossed some clothes to her.

She easily caught them and quickly turned away into the bathroom closing and locking the door behind her.

Ray looked around the small room, the bath was a mix of a bathtub and shower with a plain black shower curtain pulled to the side. Beside the shower was the toilet, and it has a cupboard above it, and the sink had a cupboard beneath it as well as square mirror above it. There were two towel racks, one across from the toilet, the other across from the sink. The first one had two large white towels tge other was empty.

Ray set her clothes on the counter around the sink and slipped out of her robe.

She turned to face the mirror and stared at her reflection, she almost didnt recogniz herself. Nothing had changed on her appearance but she felt like the person staring back at her was not her.

But she was the same as always, only difference was that her pale blonde hair was a curly mess, and her eyes were a bit brighter in color and seemed to almost glow. She noticed also that her skin no longer contained any blemishes or scars. Not even a scar from when she was cut open or from when Nyc had bit her.

Must be a werewolf benefit to gain clear skin she thought to herself as she ran a hand through her hair to detangle some knots.

She still has some chub around her waist, stomach and thighs but that never bothered her.

Ray stared at her reflection a little longer before she finally moved to turn on the shower, adjusting the waters temperature to her liking before hopping in it.

For a while she just stood there, watching the blood wash off her and drain away. Her mind was went completely blank as she stared off into space simply enjoying the water running over her body. Without much focus she began to wash out her hair and clean the dirt off her skin.

When she was completely washed Ray noticed that she had been silently crying the whole time, her tears mixing with the water. She took a moment to calm down taking a few deep breaths. She didn't want to cry, she didn't want to feel anything. She also didn't want Nyc to notice.

Once she felt relaxed enough she shut the water and stepped out of the shower, grabbing a towel she quickly dried herself off and got dressed.

With one last glance at her reflection, she shut off the bathroom light and exited into the room.

Nyc was at his desk putting folders, notes, and sheets of paper into a trapper. He barely glanced at Ray but he knew she was there.

"What are you doing?" Ray asked her head tilted slightly.

She didn't care all that much. But she felt awkward when it was silent.

"Packing shit."

"What for?"

"I am going to move us to a bigger hideout."

Ray liked the sound of that. This room being quiet small with only one bed and a leather loveseat.

"Ray you can go ahead and rest. We will leave in a couple hours. I need to wait for my alliance to contact me and tell me if the other hideout is clear."

"Uhm. Okay..." Ray moved to the bed feeling awkward just from walking.

She laid down and covered herself with the soft covers but she didn't sleep. She wasn't tired.

Instead she lay there with her eyes closed and day dreamed about her old life. Her parents would be heartbroken to hear she was missing and that Miranda was dead. They'd already lost their son. Now their daughter?

And Mirandas family would be crushed...

Ray hoped all of them would move on. Hopefully they'd find something to give them peace over the loss of their children. But Ray knew it'd be a long time before they healed.

Ray changed her thoughts to her desire for revenge. She made scenarios in her head on how she'd hunt down the cult. Thinking of this made her feel better than thinking about her feelings and the life she no longer had. She wanted to shut that out, to forget it all. She didn't want to feel the pain and loss, she refused to fully except it. Rather she chose to ignore it and focus on her rage.

Focusing solely on that made her feel numb insode and she liked it. She wanted to stay that way, to bottle everything up.

Bottling things up was something shed always done, but now she didn't have Miranda to open the bottle and help her get through it.

No now she has to keep it tightly closed.

But how long before the bottle shattered and she was forced to feel and acknowledge everything she was ignoring?

She chose to ignore that inevitable outcome as well.
