Chereads / Something New (Daichi x Suga Haikyuu) / Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Daichi's POV:

After the match Suga had received a bunch of phone calls from his dad. I was concerned and thought maybe something had happened, but hearing Suga talk to his father that way made me think differently. I wasn't quite sure what I thought of it now but as long as everything's okay then that's fine.

"So, do you wanna go somewhere and get something to eat? I had planned on going out to eat after the match anyway, but I'm sure it will be more fun having you come along." I smiled.

"Sure." He nodded.

So was this our first date? No, I never asked him to go on a date with me. I just invited him along as a friend and for now that's good enough.

He and I walked along the road as the sun began to set.

"It's really pretty." He sighed as he stared off.

"It is, man I wish it could look like this every night." I smiled.

He looked at me with a small smile on his face, the bright sky reflected off of his glossy eyes. I wondered what he was thinking about; what was racing through his mind as he stared off into my eyes. His cheeks turned red as he looked away, I wanted to look into his eyes for the rest of my life.

"So where are we going?" He asked.

"I thought we'd just go to the diner at the end of the street." I shrugged.

Minutes later we walked inside and sat across from each other at a booth. After we ordered we had a few casual conversations.

"Why'd you start making music?" I asked before sipping my water.

"I've loved music my whole life, it just felt right to make it myself." He smiled as he placed a fry in his mouth.

"When did you start making it?"

"A few years ago."

I really wanted to learn as much as I could about Suga, I want to build a good relationship with him.

"Do you have any other hobbies besides volleyball?" He asked.

"I love cooking." I smiled bashfully.

"Cooking? I never would've guessed."

The conversations went on until the bill came.

"I can pay." I offered.

"Daichi, you really don't have to-"

"It's okay, consider it a gift for coming to my match."

"But you joined me at lunch." He sighed.

"Don't worry about it, I got it." I smiled.

After I paid, the two of us left and began to walk home. I wasn't sure where Suga lived but I just kept walking and he didn't seem to stop. He then stopped at an intersection.

"Do you want me to walk you home?" I asked.

"No, here is good." He sighed.

It went silent and I was about to start walking again when Suga quickly wrapped his arms around my neck.

"Thank you so much for tonight." He smiled and pulled away, looking at me with tears in his eyes.

"Yeah, we'll have to do it again sometime."

Suga waved and slowly began to walk down his street, I continued on my way as well. I couldn't help but wonder why he had nearly cried when he thanked me, maybe he's going through some stuff. But he seems like a pretty happy guy, but I guess almost everyone does. Then I thought back to that phone call he had with his dad, maybe he has trouble at home. I'd hope not, the last thing I'd ever want is for such a sweet kid to have to go through such awful things at home.

I sighed to myself as I thought of Suga, the way it felt when he hugged me. His body had been so warm, the smell of his shampoo still lingered in my nose, the feeling of his body so close to mine. I smiled to myself as I made my way up to my house and walked inside.

It was quiet, my mom slept since she was working a night shift and my dad was still working; that's why I go out to eat after practice, I don't have the energy to make my own meal. I made my way into my room where I put my stuff on the ground and sat down on my bed with my phone in my hand.

An idea popped into my head and I quickly turned on my phone. I went into my messages and opened Suga's number.

"Do you want to hang out this weekend?" I typed.

I hesitated to press send but did, then quickly shut off my phone.
