Though Curt had got used to people's criticizing and learned not to take it to heart, it bothered him still. Every time when he went out, he could hear people talking about him, judging him.
He tapped the desk thoughtfully and said, "It could be Nathalia. She's too smart sometimes." He sounded convinced. Matt defended Nathalia instantly, "No. It's not Nathalia. She won't do anything like that." As soon as he said it, he regretted it.
Curt squinted his eyes. One couldn't tell if he was annoyed or pleased. "You sound like you know her very well." He said plainly.
