Daylilies
"I feel so… motion sick." I held my head under the pillow and tried putting more pillow on my head. I have been like this ever since I gained consciousness the other day. It peaks at random times and totally unpredictable.
'I feel so disoriented and my senses are all over the place again.' I thought to myself describing what I was feeling as of the moment.
"It's like that one time I had a hungover after throwing a party for my 24th birthday." I grunted under the pillow as my head continued to hurt.
"That…" I paused for a moment after I realized what I just said.
"I'm…remembering things."
"Y-young miss, are you feeling worse?" Nana who heard my random mumbling must have thought that I've gone crazy.
"My head feels like it's going to crack, Nana." I peeked from under the pile of pillows I put on top of me and replied.
The room was dimly lit as it was causing my headache to worsen. Like I said, it feels like a hangover.
"Oh goodness, your anemia must have worsened again. I'll call for Dr. Lee." She quickly went to the telephone beside the wooden door.
"No Nana, no need. I just need a good long sleep." I quickly sat up holding my head. I don't want to see that bald doctor and Isabella's father again. It's not like her father's going to visit but it's better safe than sorry.
'After spending two days recollecting and picking up Isabella's memories, I concluded that both her brother and father makes my blood boil. I haven't seen her brother as he's currently in University and I don't want to see him either.
"Hmm, if you say so. Just call me when it gets worse." Nana seems to doubt my words but gave in anyway.
The old maid soon went out and closed the door which made the room darker. The light from the sun leaking into the room through the curtains were seen. It seems to be almost night time already from the looks of it.
My head still hurts but I thought that it wasn't good to stay inside without light for three days straight. So I forced myself to stand up, the headache seems to have subsided a bit but it still hurts.
"Maybe getting a breath of fresh air would help with my headache." I whispered to myself as I opened the balcony door. The breeze soon came inside and I was presented the sunset.
"I don't feel as stuffy anymore." I guess the fresh air really helped huh.
In the three days I spent in Isabella's body, I learned many things from her memories and also that some specific memories needed to be triggered. Like yesterday, when Nana patted my head and brushed my hair with her fingers whilst I was eating hot soup. It was a sense of déjà vu. It's very confusing as I know that the memories I keep "remembering" weren't mine to begin with.
'It makes me wonder what happened to Isabella.' From what the ball of light explained, I was supposed to "remember" everything that happened and will happen to Isabella but, everything is just messed up and jumbled, it gets really confusing at times.
'Randomly having a sense of déjà vu when I know it hadn't happened before makes me question everything'. What happened with Nana yesterday made me remember Isabella's memory of when she was 9 and had a high fever after playing in the snow during their vacation.
Nana's hands smelled of eucalyptus which she often uses for her arthritis. It triggered the memory and it made me feel much more comfortable with the old woman.
I climbed the thick marble railings of the balcony looked out into the vast gardens. It was filled with different flowers from roses to dandelions. Isabella's room was located in the second floor so it wasn't high enough to be considered dangerous.
"I don't like flowers." I said to myself as I look at the roses that sit right below my balcony.
I wasn't sure if it was Isabella's preferences or mine but I just had a strange feeling when looking at them. 'Other than being colorful or smelling nice, it honestly doesn't do anything.' Other than the flowers that have medical purposes, they're pretty useless for me.
My eyes wandered around the garden and back up to the sunset until my eyes landed on a glass structure. It was far from where I was at but I could see the tip of the structure shine as it reflected the light of the sun.
The glint of light reflected from its surface caught my interest.
"What the hell is that?" I squinted my eyes and tried to think of an answer to my own question. It a building made of glass and it was white. It looks old from where I was sitting, like worn out from the rain or something.
After looking at the strange building for a couple of minutes, my head felt light-headed all of a sudden as if I was in a trance…
.
I could see a woman with long black hair standing in front of a flower arrangement, she seems to be working on them. A little to her right you could see a small child tiptoeing just so she could see what the woman was up to.
"Mama, what's that flower called?" The child asked her mother whilst looking at what she's doing.
"These? They're called Daylilies. I'm arranging them so I can put them in your room later." The woman turned to the child as she cut off the stem of the flower and put it on the child's hair. She explained how she was arranging flowers.
"They're beautiful aren't they?" She asked as she carried her child and sat her on the table right next to the flower arrangement.
"Dayninies?" The child who has yet to perfect her pronunciation touched the flower on the left side of her hair. She was confused as to what Daylilies were and what flower arrangement has to do with it.
"Haha, silly. Day-li-lies, repeat after me. They're called day-li-lies." The woman tried teaching her little daughter the right way to pronounce the word.
"Day-ni-nies." But to no avail, the child still couldn't pronounce it correctly with her short tongue. She looked sad as she couldn't copy what her mother was saying.
"Don't worry, you'll say it correctly someday." The woman only laughed at her daughter and reassured her.
"Now why don't you help mama arrange flowers?" The woman encouraged the little girl and gave her a
I was standing behind them, just looking at the interaction between the two. Even though it was a simple interaction, it felt heartwarming and wholesome. The woman was treating her child as if she's the most precious thing in the world…as all mothers do of course.
'I wish I had a mother.' I instinctively thought to myself.
I couldn't see the woman's face clearly, but I knew she was beautiful. She was thin and tall, worryingly thin to be exact. She looked dainty and soft but her facial structure was firm as well.
I looked at my surroundings and found various yellow flowers with different hues and sizes. One specific looking flower was abundant though, it was the flowers the beautiful lady was holding. The place is really pretty, bright, and the air feels refreshing.
.
"A greenhouse." I finally snapped out of the trance I was in as I whispered something out of my mouth.
'That was dangerous.' I shouldn't space out like that especially since I'm sitting on a balcony railing. Even if this was the second floor it's still not safe. I sighed to myself and gripped the marble railing.
"That must have been a memory." I said to myself as I continued to stare at the glass building which I now know is a greenhouse.
Yesterday it was related to Nana, now it was related to a woman. I wasn't sure who she was but she felt familiar and special. And I know this was Isabella's feelings since I don't know who the woman was to begin with.
Isabella's feeling about the woman made me doubt once more. Considering how she felt somehow the same with her brother and her father and how rude and neglectful they both were, I wouldn't be surprised if that woman was the same.
The only difference was that it felt as if I would want to sleep in her arms, it was a warm feeling different from the two guys.
"That was Isabella's mother." That was the only conclusion I could come up with. Unless what I saw was another pair of mother and daughter.
I shook my head and soon noticed that it was getting darker. I couldn't see the sun anymore but the sky was still somehow lit in an orange hue.
Another figure caught my eyes once more but it wasn't a building this time. I saw a figure of a man standing far from me. He was in the middle of the walkway connecting the mansion's gates and the front door.
"The hell is this creepy dude doing?" I got goosebumps as I thought that it's some pervert or creep staring at me. But after focusing at him, I noticed that he was dressed in somewhat a formal attire. We just stared at each other for a good minute before I noticed two other men walking after him.
"Oh crap, it's that old dude." My eyes went big and I quickly hopped off of the marble railings and inside the room. Neither do I want to be seen by that old man nor do I want to see his ugly face.
'It also turned put that we had visitors.' I closed the balcony doors and went back to bed. All I want now is for that ball of light to come back so I could finally have my questions answered. Sitting and doing nothing would result to nothing as well.
'If I wasn't so disoriented I would have gone out and explored the mansion.' I don't know when I'll get motion sick again or even pass out so I have decided to stay put inside the room until the ball of light came back.
I know for a fact this has something to do with my soul being transferred to another body, as the doctor had said the other day, there seems to be no problems to me physically than what I (Isabella) already had.
I also have to go to the academy tomorrow immediately, it turned out that I had been absent for more than a week already after what happened at the party thrown by Cecilia. Isabella collapsed right in front of everyone and was unconscious. It turned bad since Isabella has sleep apnea so her breathing had to be regulated with a machine since she was unconscious for 5 days.
'Then when she woke up…well, when I woke up, I was already here.' I have this sense of guilt in me that's been bothering me for days ever since I woke up as Isabella.
'Where did she go?', 'Did she die?', 'Is there a way for her to come back?'. I was worried for her, I would honestly just choose to die if it meant that I had to steal someone's life to live again.
"This is messed up." I would want to go back to my own realm, but at what cost? The cost of someone's life? The questions and guilt that had been piling up in my head for days was bothering me. I need that ball of light to answer me.
I'm even questioning myself right now, do I really want to find out what happened to her or do I just want answers to ease my guilt?
