He still looked the same. I decided to scream but that's when he spoke up! " Hey, it's okay!" Oh yeah that helped A LOT. " Don't scream please! It's really me...your brother, Steven " "And you expect me to believe that?" I said in a shaky voice, my body was started sweating at this point. "You didn't look so friendly before" I added. " Please just believe me okay?" Steven almost begged. After a moment of silence, I finally got the urge to speak up again "Prove it" " What?" Steven replied as he didn't hear me because my voice was low. I took a deep breath " Prove it...that you're really my brother" I said a little louder. "Umm okay" he stared at the ceiling trying to remember something that would convince me. " Okay got it! On Christmas, when you were seven, I said I'd buy you that new video game. And you were so excited! But instead I gave you a box of coal. You should've seen the disappointment on your face. But me being the best brother in the world actually bought you that game later " Steven said laughing a bit. It was all true. But I still didn't believe him, I mean why would I? He's a ghost, he can know that from anywhere. I just crossed my arm and shrugged signaling him that he didn't convince me. "I also know that you still cry in the middle of the night cause you miss me...and you failed your math test in second grade but I saw it. You were too afraid to show it to mom, so I helped you make a fake test" Steven said giving me his regular toothy smile. "How did you know all of this?!" I replied freaking out a bit. "I'm your brother, Will. And I know how unbelievable it sounds, but it's true" "Like how? Are you not dead?" "Yeah I am, sadly" "What do you want from me?" "I need you to do me a favour". What is he talking about? "Okayy...what favour exactly?" I said kind of not wanting to hear it. "I'll tell you that later on. Let's just say, whatever it is, it's good for you and mom". I had a thousand of questions at this point. But there was a knock on my door followed by my mom coming inside. "Hey, I heard you talking to someone" my mom said Ina sleepy yet concerned voice. "There is nobody mom" I said. My mom didn't seem so convinced so I added "I couldn't sleep. I stood up my friends for the third time this week so I was feeling a bit anxious. And talking to myself...umm helps.." I said in my most truthful voice, well I tried at least "Okay. Just make sure you have some sleep. You have to go to school tomorrow" "OK mom" she just nodded and left the room as I sighed in relief. I looked around for Steven, but couldn't find a trace of him.
