Bella had a frown on her face when she woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't recognize her environment.
She tried to sit up but paused when she felt a sharp pain on the side of her head, and as she raised her hand to touch her head, she realized that something was connected to her hand. It was a cannula connected to a drip set.
Why was she was in a hospital? What happened to her head? She wondered as she looked around the dim hospital room in confusion. And then she remembered that she had woken up the last time in an ambulance.
The last thing she remembered was seeing some strange faces looking at her in the ambulance and asking her questions. That seemed to be like the only memory in her head.
She paused when she noticed that she wasn't alone in the room.
"You are awake," Dan observed when he noticed her movement, and he stood from the single couch in the room and went to turn on the light before approaching her bedside.
