Dan kept trying Bella's number, but she didn't bother taking his call even though her phone kept ringing. Why had she left just like that when she should have been waiting to hear from Nicole? At least that would have given them a lead. Where was she going to? Dan wondered with a worried frown. Everything was happening too quickly at the same time.
"Why don't you text her?" Nicole suggested, reminding Dan that she was still right there beside him.
"Oh! Yeah. Why didn't I think of that?" Dan asked as he quickly started typing a text, "Where are you? Nicole didn't tell anyone about the ring. I've got an idea. Call me."
Bella sighed as she read the text. She didn't want to get Dan involved in any of this. She didn't want them to get intertwined in anything that might remotely be dangerous. Zach had met her by the poolside and had offered to give her a ride home when she said she wanted to leave.
