Chapter 5 - The truth and the trip home

"Emma! It's not what it looks like." Her mom said still trying it hide the alien device behind her. "So it's not you trying to hide a glowing green orb thingy?" Emma said sarcastically as her friends stood behind her. Her mom looked to the ground and stood up knowing she owed the kids an explanation, "Okay kids let's go talk in the house." They all walked out of the shed and into the house sitting down at the table waiting to hear what was going on. Emma knew whatever her mother had to say was going to sound crazy but she had already witnessed something she had never thought possible. Before this day these kids only thought of aliens as green little men from story's and scary movies. Something they joked about hiding in area 51 but never actually thought was possible. "So spit it out what's going on and what is that thing out there, what are you?" Emma said. "You mean what are we, I am still your mother Emma. And that orb out there is a communication device. We are not from this world Emma, we look and talk like them and you grew up here ever since you were young but this is not our true home. We belong in the stars on our home planet. I look up at the night sky and see our planet sometimes, to the naked eye it just looks like another star." Emma's mom started explaining and the kids all looked at her in disbelief and awe. They were not scared nor angry they were calm just as her mother was and they were intrigued. "Wait you said it was a communication device. Who are you communicating with?" Alexis asked curiously. "My husband, Emma's father." Emma looked at her mother when she said that with a sad expression. "You said my father was dead." Emma said. "I'm sorry dear I needed you to believe he was, so i wiped your memory of our home and your father. Our home planet had turned into a war zone it was no longer safe for us so I left with you to this safer planet." Her mother said sadly as she looked out the window at the stars. Emma looked at her friends then back to her mother. She didn't remember her father or her home but she felt her mothers pain. She could imagine how beautiful her planet was and how her father would embrace her in a warm hug. "But the war is over Emma. We can go home now, I was preparing our departure back home when you found me in the shed." Emma looked at her friends then back at her mom "Do we need to leave...now?" "Yes honey I'm afraid we do. I'm sorry to take you away from your friends like this." Her mom said sadly. "Its okay mom, I'm ready." Emma turned to her friends and gave them a hug goodbye, then walked out to the shed with her mom and in one big green flash Emma and her mom were gone.
