Aiden supported Maya's back and whispered to her, "I am so sorry, I am late."
Although Maya had blinked her tears back, it did not stop her nose from turning red. When she looked back at him, Aiden could tell that she wanted to cry, but still wanted to maintain her pride... There was nothing wrong with it.
She had almost lost everything that she treasured in just few words, her pride was something that she wanted to clutch onto and not depart with.
"Hey A-" Maya was shocked when she saw him behind herself. She had just opened her mouth to address him when Aiden put his index finger on her lips to quieten her. Maya's eyes widened and she pulled her face back from his hand, it formed a cute little double chin on her face.
"Pfft! She's so cute!" Aiden laughed in his head, and pointed towards the ward door.
Maya understood that he was telling her to keep quiet and listen to their conversation.
