It is our final week and we are all busy studying and cramming for our final exams. After this week, it is official the class is over and everybody is looking forward for the summer vacation for two months. After the break we will be seeing each other again and we are in junior high.
Joseph and I now hang out a lot and we also join the rest of our friends for the group study.
Sherwin and I are still not on speaking terms. Sometimes, I caught him staring at me and he always looked away.
I am still hoping that we can still talk before the class ends and it's a must that we should talk because he will be leaving for good with his family in the States. But our final week is pretty much tough and busy for all of us. And I should rather focus with the exams instead of worrying about Sherwin a lot. I just pray and wish that something would come out and we could talk.
Last day of our final exam week, when I woke up my brother already left for school. He woke up early because he slept early last night too and he still has some studies to do this morning before the actual exam. I stayed up a little bit last night to finish my review.
I arrive in the classroom and everyone is already in his or her assigned sit. We are sitting one chair apart to ensure that there will be no cheating and copying of answers during the exam.
Today, Sherwin will be sitting behind me.
The exam is about to start when our teacher reminds us about the preferred color of the pen we will be using for the answer sheet. She wants us to use a purple pen. She already reminded us about it a week ago. I grab my bag and look for my purple pen. I can't find it but I am sure I had it so I keep looking. The examination papers is now being distributed to us and every body is already starting answering while I am still stuck and still looking for my pen. I am feeling the pressure already because the clock is ticking and I have wasted some of my time while I could not find my purple pen. Unexpectedly, someone tap my shoulder from behind and when I turn around, I saw a purple pen in my shoulder and someone said, "I have an extra one you can borrow it." Sherwin let me borrow his extra pen. I grab it and when I am about to say thank you he quickly goes back answering his exam.
After a couple of hours, my classmates start to submit their exams to our teacher. Of course I am left behind and have finish the exam at the exact time. I notice Sherwin is finishing up his exam as well and when I stand and leaves my chair, he follows and is behind me waiting for his turn to submit his exam paper.
I waited for him outside the classroom so that I could say thank you for the pen and return it back to him. His only response was "okay". As soon as he turns his back at me, I call him and said "Sherwin". He turns around and said "yes?" I said, "Can we talk"? And then he said "I don't have time" and then he left.
I follow and look for everyone in the canteen and join them and we talk about the exams, chat about our plans for the summer vacation and about getting together during the break.
While having our cold drinks and chatting with every body, Joseph hands me a small envelop that was completely sealed. There is a note in the front that says "open me when u get home". I put it in my bag and continue chatting with my friends.
When I got home, I remember about the envelope. I bring it out from my and opens it. The note says, "Come meet me tomorrow noon in the mall if you still want to talk – Sherwin".
I could not sleep that evening. I move around and circle around my bed.
Many things are going on my mind. I am worried; I am confused; I am excited; I am having a lot of thoughts of what will happen during the date. Date? Is it going to be a date? Did Sherwin indirectly asked me to have a date with him? I have never been on a date. I don't even know how to handle a date with a girl moreover with a boy. I am so pressured right now.
Suddenly, I was on the floor because my brother kicked me out of the bed because he was feeling uneasy and uncomfortable because of my rowdy movements in bed.
