Jungkook heaved an exasperated sigh. He truly honestly could not believe he was back. He was thoroughly sick of this place. He didn't care that it had 'oNlY bEeN 3 yEaRs' or that 'iT's rEaLlY nOt tHaT bAd aNd yOuR tEaChErS aRe gReAt', he wanted to stop coming to this mediocre school in this mediocre town with his mediocre classmates, and go somewhere where he could do whatever the hell he wanted and just get away with it.
Returning to the boarding house was jarring. Of course he had arrived about 3 weeks later than anyone else, mainly cause he had managed to convince his parents that the first few weeks were just review and orientation so it would be completely fine if he missed them, plus he would catch up on all of his missing work if he had to. It was obviously complete bluff. He didn't know or care about the material they were reviewing, and him? Expected to catch up on, oh god, he almost retched, work? To him work might as well be a foreign language and he was completely disinterested in learning it.
Anyway, he walked into the boarding house one evening, lugging his bags in with his parents in tow. The supervisor, Si Hyuk, greeted him kindly. He remarked that he was surprised Jungkook was back considering his insistence that he would absolutely not be coming back, certainly not, he was going somewhere where the academics were laxer and the girls were prettier. Jungkook winced at the reminder, and was not at all reassured by his parents standing close behind. He could tell they would have words with him later, if they even remembered. Why would it matter anyway? Even if he didn't make excellent grades it wouldn't matter much because he was blessed with i n h e r i t a n c e m o n e y . Si Hyuk broke him out of his thoughts to tell him that he was rooming with Jimin. Sick.
Right after his parents left and his things were stowed, he decided to wander off to greet people. Thankfully most of the boarders were chilling outside, so he could greet some new faces. His friend, Mark, beckoned him over, vape pen in hand. He offered a hit, which Jungkook gladly took. Vanilla flavoured. Ew. Mark started filling him in on all the new people that had arrived, then brought him over to greet this new girl (Y/N). Mark gave him a fair warning that she was kinda against the whole vape stuff so he should maybe not do it so much in her face, which Jungkook took in stride. Apparently it had gotten her in a fair bit of trouble with her roommate who now seemed to absolutely hate her guts. Whatever, it's not exactly like she was a stellar person either.
They approached, with Mark giving her a loud greeting, startling her out of a conversation with this other new girl he didn't know the name of yet. She returned Mark's greeting a bit nervously, inclining her head as she said hello. Jungkook greeted her in turn, introducing himself and giving her a hand to shake. She did so, nervously laughing and giving him her name. Hell of a grip she had, he was slightly taken aback. The girl she had previously been conversing with was called Jessica, and she seemed nice, if not a bit awkward. Jessica was a grade above, same as this o t h e r new girl Jin-ah, same as Jimin. New Girl #1, no... (Y/N)? was in his class, which he supposed didn't change much.
He walked away, happy to catch up with his roommate, Jimin. They talked about their summers, what they had been up to, who, if anyone, had caught their eye, and their expectations for this year. Jungkook went to bed that night expecting very little out of the next day.
