The light streaming through the cracks in the rubble that it was the morning. Both Yuliang and Linden were well past their limits.
The pain in his arms had dulled down to a consistent dull throb, but that was due to Yuliang expending a portion of his Energy to numbing the pain while he used the rest to support Aryan.
The rubble had pressed them down to the point that Yuliang's entire body was pressed against Linden's, and they were fast losing hope. Still, the Enforcer didn't let up on his spluttering control for even a second and continued to hold up the rubble throughout the entire night.
Yuliang could tell that they wouldn't be able to last another hour.
He had suggested trying to move some of the rubble earlier, but Linden immediately shot down the idea since that might cause structural instability and cause the rubble to collapse and kill them instead.
So they had to play the waiting game. Hoping that the city Enforcers and Emergency crews would arrive soon and rescue them.
Finally, just as Yuliang started wondering whether they should really start getting worried, they arrived.
The ringing of his ears had stopped hours ago, so Yuliang's hearing was back to its normal, sensitive state. So he was able to hear the sound of vehicles and people approaching the area.
The moment the people got close enough within what Yuliang assumed was hearing range, he began calling out to them loudly. Linden almost dropped his control from how startled he was but managed to keep his cool, knowing that help was near.
They were dug out of the rubble soon after and loaded and strapped down onto medical beds at the back of an ambulance.
It was only when the ambulance began moving that Yuliang finally succumbed to his exhaustion.
