Chapter 5 - A Long Train Ride III

Yuliang did not manage any sleep by the time Anil finally rose from his sleep and began to thank him for their services profusely. Yuliang accepted it all with a professional smile on his face, but his lack of sleep did make his patience particularly limited.

A few hours later, everyone in the compartment had breakfast, and Yuliang decided to give them some words of advice before leaving. Many Sundanese from rural communities tend to be ignorant of the medical services made available to them and end up going through unnecessary grief because of it. After a baby had been lost under the ignorant care of a couple back in Mist Valley, Yuliang had become a heavy advocate of making early interventions to prevent such a fate from befalling any other child.

"You need to remember to book an appointment with a doctor as soon as you can. Babies are vulnerable to a lot of stuff since their immune systems are still developing. Getting Yulia vaccinated should be your top priority."

"Can't you do that for us? Vaccinate her?" Rupa asked, looking slightly shaken by his warning and readjusting her hold on the baby.

Yuliang shook his head, "No, I'm only a licensed Healer. I don't have the qualifications to administer vaccines." Only doctors and specially qualified Healers did.

The couple didn't seem to see his point, but they trusted his expertise enough to agree to do as instructed.

Yuliang checked over the mother and baby one last time to ensure their continued good health, then accepted the $50 he had agreed on as payment for his services and said goodbye to the family of three. No service was free in this world, unfortunately, and Yuliang needed to earn a living too. Though he usually makes sure to charge well below the ridiculous unreasonable amounts Healers were commonly known to charge unless his clients could afford the standard amount.

Yukio was snoring up a storm from where he was curled up on the lower bunk back at their shared compartment.

Rolling his eyes, Yuliang plugged his phone into the charging outlet under the window compartment window, and stumbled gracelessly up the small ladder, and fell face-first onto his bed.

His head had barely made contact with the pillow when he succumbed to exhaustion.
