"An app", Trevor exclaims in a questionable tone. "Yes", I answer with a cheery voice. "You clearly had more to drink than I did yesterday, cause you must of been on some kind of drunk high last night to come to me with this", Trevor said while pulling his face. "Come on Trevor, we used to talk about this all the time up till high school with the guys", I remind trevor. "Yeah, when we were still unrealistic kids. Now were grown ass people with responsibilities. And must I remind you, I still haven't called my parents to break the news to them", Trevor tells me.
"That's not important. Once you start making huge sums of money from co-developing this app, you'll get tired of your parents constantly calling you to tell you how proud they are of you", I assured Trevor.
"Still! Making apps isn't a walk in the park, especially with the one we were dreaming of developing with the old crew. Speaking of the old crew, we'd have to get in touch with the techno nerds wherever they are right now", Trevor exclaims.
"Don't worry about that. I've already spent the whole of yesterday calling up the squad", I tell Trevor. "You guys can come in now", I announce out loud.
The door to Trevor's apartment opens, and four other people walk into the room. "How long have you guys been standing outside of my apartment for", Trevor asks them. Davey the biggest one of the group replies with, "long enough to hear that you're still a drama queen when it comes to a lot of things". "I really didn't miss you Davey", Trevor airs out with a sharp tone. "It's good to see you too T", Davey tells Trevor. I announce to Trevor, "I'd like to reintroduce you to the techno nerds. Davey, the biggest eater and best coder I've known since high school. Eric, our major researcher of the group. Lenny, the all round people's person and face for all things trustworthy. And of course the beautiful and only girl in our crew, Leilani, our all round designs expert".
"Was that really necessary, like really J", Trevor asks me with a sarcastic tone. "Trevor, our always moody but reliable funds guy", I announce while shaking Trevor a bit. Trevor shrugs his shoulders and exclaims, "Jahmal, our fearless leader with an inheritance he ain't seeing in his entire lifetime".
"And we are, the techno nerds", we all yell out while punching the air.
We all start laughing, and keep telling each how much we've missed each other. "Okay fearless leader, how exactly are we going to develop the app this time around", Trevor asks me. "Well the big difference now is where much wiser than we were before. And we've got the right person to handle all the legal matters in that empty position. My beautiful wife April", I state to the group.
"You ended up marrying that piece of hot ass. Wow! point to the nerds", Eric congratulates me with a high five raised up. I return the notion but I also tell Eric, "yeah don't ever refer to her like that okay".
"Well where is she", Leilani asks me. "Work stuff, but she's here in spirit", I inform her. "Well at least I wont be the only girl in the crew anymore", Leilani says. "April actually agreed to this nonsense", Trevor asks me. "Yeah! It was her idea actually", I reply. "Hmm, well that just confirms it", Trevor states.
"Confirms what", I ask him. "Both of you are insane", he exclaims.
"So what's the first step J", Lenny asks me. "Right now! We do a little research", I respond to him. Eric starts smiling as soon as he hears me say that.
"You still got that white board Trevor", I ask him. "Yeah, why", he says. "We're going to need it", I tell him.
We head off into one of the empty rooms and I grab a marker and start writing out stuff.
"Project Blip", I write out on the top of the board.
"So we're actually doing this thing. But firstly we need to figure what exactly people want from any general app", I ask the group.
"Any ideas", I ask the question.
"A good app for less money", Eric states. I write on the board, quality for less quantity.
"A trustworthy and secure app", Lenny says. I write on the board, security for your utility
"People want to share their stories to the entire world. Get their content out there, so pictures, videos, music etc", Leilani says. I write on the board, share our stories for self glories.
Trevor clears his throat and in a bold manner exclaims, "porn".
Everyone else in the room lets out a large grunt. Leilani slaps Trevor at the back of his head, while I just slap my forehead in disappointment. "Okay moving on", I tell the group. "Well by the looks of it, what we could make is a social media app. But there's so many of those already, so ours would have to be completely different from the rest out there", I state.
"It has to be fast", Trevor exclaims, "like really fast. I'm talking at the speed of light fast".
"We seriously need an app out there that actually blocks out chain messages at their very first linkage", Eric says. "Yeah", the rest of the group exclaims. "And also blocks out perverts like Trevor from your DMs at first site", Leilani says. Trevor still rubbing the back of his head says, "you probably dream of perverts like me". "Our app has to stay reliable no matter what. Meaning no immediate price changes or unnecessary updates that really don't do much to the app anyways. And we have to always stick to our core values to the bone", Lenny says. I start hitting the back of the marker on my lip, and exclaim, "something like, no matter what the day, the situation or event, we'll never go against our value of giving you the best quality for less quantity".
"That's a bold statement no", Trevor asks. "Yeah but it's those kind of statements that your users really appreciate the most. Especially when you keep to your word", Lenny tells Trevor.
"Davey! You've been really quiet. Do you have anything to add on", I ask him. "Considering all of this, we'd have to do the most to get this app off the ground, and really get it out there. Like you said, there's a lot of social apps there, so ours has to stand out", Davey states.
"Yeah and how exactly do we get the word out about our app", Leilani asks me. I give a little smile, and ask the group, "what's the one thing everyone always follow no matter where they are. Not porn", I yell at Trevor who puts his hand down soon after.
The group seemed to not have a direct answer, so I gave it to them. "Celebrities guys! Everybody is following a certain celebrity or certain celebrities. The point being, we always want to know what this celebrity is doing, what that other one is saying and what new trends their into", I tell the group. "And that's how we catch our audience. We just get one of these high profile celebrities to give a little shout out about our little app coming up. A tag here and there and we've got it made", I continued on.
"But yeah which celeb would be willing to do that for us without charging us an arm and a leg for it", Trevor asks me. "You leave that to me. There's a few advantages of being the bastard son of a highly successful family. You get to associate with all the big shouts out there", I tell him.
"And what about money to help get this app off the ground", Davey asks me. I have a little saving I've been making for the past few years. I managed to scrape a few thousands from my dad without my stepmom getting a whiff of it under her bloodhound nose", I tell Davey.
"What were you hoping to use that money for", Leilani asks me. "Well I was hoping to use it to surprise April with a brand new fancy car. You know one of those posh ones, so she wouldn't have to be taking the bus everyday to work. Sigh, but I guess that will have to wait a little longer. We have to make sacrifices hey", I exclaim to the group.
"Are you sure about that", Leilani asks me in a concerned voice. I shrug my shoulders and tell her, "hey you gotta spend money to make more money".
"So how much are we talking", Davey asks me. "Something like 10k. Will that work", I ask him. Davey and Trevor look at each other and both state, "we'll make it work".
"Now there's only one more issue to address. Your jealous son of a gun brother Ethan", Trevor exclaims. "He's always been the jealous type when it came to anything you did. So I'm pretty sure he'd go out on a fit about his stepbro in the works of developing the next big app", Trevor announced.
"You leave that matter to me. I know how to handle my brother. Now if there's nothing more to say, lets get to work on this app", I tell the group while clapping my hands.
