"And to think that the same Kisaragi-san who ignores everyone, was talking and laughing with you with a smiling face which no one had seen before. Just how did you do it!?"
Her eyes became sparkly in anticipation for the answer. I replied saying
"Well I didn't really do anything"
"Huh? You didn't do anything?" Said Hina-san in confusion
"She just started talking to me saying I was an interesting person and I guess we just sort of hit it off"
"Really? So Kisaragi-san approached you first. I thought it was the opposite. But what did you do to make her interested in you?"
"I honestly don't know. She just told that she knew that I would be interesting guy like we had met before"
"Have you met before?"
"I think I would've remembered her if I met her before. She isn't the forgettable type"
"Then what could the reason be?…It's a mystery"
"But I still don't get why we're talking about her. In the first place, why do you want to know how I talked to her so badly?"
"It's because I want to be friends with her" Said Hina-san with absolutely no hesitation
Huh? Friends?
"But isn't she super cold towards everyone. Why would you want to make friends with someone like her?"
She smiled and said
"She may seem like that but she's actually a really nice person and I want to get to know her"
How does she even know that?
I got so enveloped in her amazing story telling skills that I forgot we were still walking along the ground. All the sports grounds were 15 metres below the school level and were built on a huge crater like area on the hill. If you wanted to go to the ground, you would have to walk down two storeys of stone stairs which were all along the borders of the grounds. The stairs were all situated on a wall made from a bunch of big old stones that had vines growing on them. That was on my left side; on my right was a bunch of thick trees. The school was on a large hill but the vegetation looked like that of a forest you find in the mountains
"Hina-san where are we going?"
"The Japanese Entertainment Club as you asked"
"But I don't think there are any clubs over here"
"The Japanese Entertainment Club has its own building as it's club room and is located in the area over there which is which is full of trees. You can find it if you follow that stone pathway over there"
She pointed towards some trees and below it was a pathway going into the trees. I asked
"Why do they have their own building as a club room and why did you start talking about Kisaragi-san when I asked you about the club?"
"It's because they're related"
"Huh?"
"Kisaragi-san is the President and also the only member of the Japanese Entertainment Club" Said Hina-san as if it was obvious all along
Wait! What!? Then the person who put up that poster and wrote that sentence was Kisaragi-san. Then that means she's also a…
"But that doesn't make any sense. I thought you needed a certain number of members to make a club. There's no way she can have her own club like that"
"Oh so you don't know about the rules in this school"
"Rules?"
"To motivate the student to get better marks. The school has implemented a system where the top 25 students with the best grades are given extra club budgets from the school. Basically if you get in the top 25, your club budget increases significantly and you get to decide how you use the money. This increases the competitiveness in students and their grades also improve. Also with better equipment for clubs they can get better results in whatever their doing. It's beneficial to both students and the school"
"But that doesn't explain why she has her own club"
"That's because the top 3 students in the school get special privileges when it comes to club activities. They get a massive club income compared to others. They can also create their own private club without the need of other members or an advisor and can reject any students who want to join. The school doesn't monitor their club's so they can do whatever they want without holding back. Since Kisaragi-san is always moving between the first and second position in the school she can make her own club. Also the reason she has a separate building as a club room is because it's one of the many other privileges she has"
"So she basically has her own private VIP lounge in the school. She's truly living a queen's life. But doesn't that mean I can't join the club since she doesn't accept any admissions"
"No I think it's different for you since you're the only one she's accepted as a friend"
"Um, I don't know if she's accepted me as a friend though"
"No, she definitely sees you as a friend. There's no way anyone can laugh the way she did with you to a normal acquaintance"
She does? I kind of had this warm feeling going through my body when she said that. It really does feel good when someone says you're a friend. And I've been feeling this warmth a lot today
"So you're saying that if I ask her I might have a chance of joining?"
"Well it's better than giving up before trying right?"
"Well I guess that is true"
We were only a few metres from the pathway which lead to the club and Hina-san seemed to have something else to do so I said
"Hina-san I think you should go back now since I know where it is. Thank you so much for today and sorry for taking up your time"
"No it's nothing. I had to meet someone in the sports ground anyway so it wasn't a hassle for me"
Meet someone? A friend? A boyfriend? I despised the very thought of Hina-San having a boy friend. My habits of a older brother protecting her little sister started showing up. But Hina-san was rather a cute animal that needed to be protected from the other ferocious predators than a sister
"Then I'll see you tomorrow"
"Yeah bye bye"
I waved my hand as I jogged towards the club and she waved back with a cute derpy smile on her face
I got to the pathway and looked where it lead. It was a straight line towards a building 20 metres away and I started walking towards the club
