I dont see how I am always the one who has to run out in the middle of the night. Being the middle child seemed to have more disadvantages than Ryan cared to keep up with. Last time dad sent me to the store this late I didnt think I would make it back. Ryans father was an alcoholic for as far back as he could remember. Ryan knew that it was easier to do as he was told then to cause trouble, even if it meant going out into this. The world around where Ryan lived was truly a shining example of the decay that society was falling deeper and deeper into. The city where Ryan lived was full of crime and lawlessness.
"HELP ME!!!" The scream brought Ryan back from his thoughts and into the here and now. That came from the alley beside the liquor store that Ryan had always been sent to by his father. As I ran up to the entrance of the alley and peeked around the corner I could see a woman being held up against the wall by three men, one of the men had a knife and was holding it to the throat of the woman to make sure another scream didnt escape from her mouth. Before my feet could stop me I found myself running full speed at the man with the knife. The man was so focused on keeping the woman quiet that he didnt see Ryan until it was to late. Crashing into the man with a shoulder tackle that he had picked up from four years of football sent the man with the knife flying into the trash cans beside the group of assailants. The other two men let go of the girl's arms to face off with Ryan. "RUN!!" I screamed at the girl. As she took off out of the alley Ryan faced off against the other two men still catching the first one who was still in shock with a right hook that sent him into the alley wall. BANG! It was the last sound Ryan heard. As he fell to the ground he could see the woman exiting around the alley entrance as his vision blurred and conciousness began to fade away. Well at least she made it. That was Ryans final thought in this world.
"What about him brother I think that he will do nicely. He certainly has a warrior's heart and spirit!" "This will be our last opportunity sister. This is our last chance to get it right and save our creation. Would you rest it all on his shoulders?"
As Ryan awoke he was laying upon a golden floor. Upon the floor were inlaid two Dragons holding a sphere between them that was almost Identical to Earth. All aound the floor was darkness. Ryan began to panic a little. " Hello is there anyone there?" As Ryan stood there wandering if he would make it out of this alive, wait alive thats right I was shot. I reached under my shirt where I had been shot and there was nothing, no hole not even a mark. "How is this possible?" I wandered aloud. "Because child", spoke a mature female voice directly into Ryan's mind, "You have been chosen."
