Now as he held Dominique as she slept in his lap, he regretted his actions, all of them, to the point he wished he had a time machine. He would go back and change everything he had done. He would never have started drinking to drown his woes. He would have just manned up and told her that he'd lost his job. If he had done that, they would still be together and he knew it.
Tim slowly moved Dominique so that her legs were hanging off his lap and her body was leaned back against his arm. He put his other arm under her legs and stood up. He looked at her and she looked like an angel as she slept. He pulled her tight against his chest and put his face in her hair. She was still using the same shampoo. He had always loved the smell of it. He kissed her temple and moved out of the office and walked to the back door.
