"Mom, once you are done talking to Catherine, can we talk?"
"Sure, sweetie. Are you okay?" Dominique asked as she saw her daughter's expression.
"Everything's fine, Mom. I just need to talk something through."
"Okay, sweetie. I'll come find you as soon as I'm done here."
"Thanks," Makayla said and left the room with Chris.
As soon as they walked out of the room, Chris turned to her and said, "Would you like to go for a run real quick?"
"Not right now, Chris. I know you can probably sense that I'm feeling a little off, but it's fine. It'll be okay. How about we just go back to my room until Mom comes and gets me?"
"Alright. If you insist," Chris said.
"I insist," Makayla said, smiling, and taking his hand as they walked to her room.
