Chapter 4 - Situation worsens

Philip quickly washed his face in the bathroom and got to the first location Maria sent him in about 25 minutes. It was a small bungalow apartment at the edge of the city. On getting there cops could be seen around the area, stopping people from going in and coming out.

"Detective Philip over here", while approaching the crime scene someone called out to him from inside. On getting inside he looked around and saw a middle aged man on a sky blue suit with stripes waving at the dinning area. The man actually happened to be a detective but Philip wasn't bothered because he was only here to see if the murder had any connection to his investigation. Also the detective happened to be lower ranked than him.

"give me a briefing on your report", Philip demanded immediately he got in.

"Yes.....the name of the deceased was Marcus Gonzales; worked in the Emphris pharmaceuticals as an assistant lab scientist, 36 years of age, no criminal records, married with no kids, his wife is over there....", the detective pointed to a corner in the room where a woman was seen sitting on the floor with her face in her hands, "and she witnessed the whole incident, but we think she has been traumatised by it so she was speaking gibberish....."

Philip took a glance at her and asked, "Cause of death?"

The detective quickly replied, "Multiple stabbings all over the body and excessive blood loss... but the way corpse was mutilated, was as if the deceased and the perpetrator had an unresolvable grudge"

Immediately Philip heard that he walked over to where the corpse was to check it out, only to be shocked again. The victim's body had holes allover, from his head to the sole of his feet. He could even see two large holes where his eyeballs were supposed to be and the floor could be seen from both holes.

"Just how many times was he stabbed?..... and the way these holes look, he wasn't stabbed with a dagger or a knife. It's more like he was stabbed with a giant needle.", Philip wondered out loud, and then proceeded to walk over to the wife of the deceased with the other detective following behind.

"Mrs Gonzales?", Philip stood in front of her and asked while looking down at her.

she raised her face up and saw another man in suit. She immediately understood that he must be another one of those detectives, but she couldn't understand why he was looking so young.

When she finally raised her head up Philip could see her facial features well. She was a blondie with a beautiful oval shaped face, and a fair; and smooth looking skin, the only downside to her beauty was the fact that her eyes looked swollen like that of a panda.

'For her to look like this she must have really loved him, but that doesn't mean i can rule her out as a suspect', Philip thought to himself. He was all too familiar with cases of murder between spouses, although he considered himself a good detective who could discern if the other spouse was faking it or being real with the display of love for their dead spouse, but he still believes that they're better actors and actresses out there who could deceive even his eyes. After all everything can be faked, even love.

"I... h.. ha... ha..ve a.. al... alre..ady to..told th.. em eve...ry...thing i...i saw...(sniff sniff)", she kept stuttering and sniffing as she spoke.

"Well you're going to have to repeat to me what you have told them, and i want nothing but the truth. Who is responsible for your husband death?", Philip looked her in the eyes and asked coldly.

"kiiaaaaahh!!!", she shrieked immediately Philip made eye contact with her after asking the question.

"Tho...Tho... those eyes... it was ju..st like how he loo..ked at me", she jumped up while shouting, "St...stay aw..ay, do..don't co..me any clo...ser.....", she said as she kept moving back.

One of the medics came to her and tried to calm her down while reprimanding Philip that the spouse of the deceased was still suffering from trauma. Philip exchange a glance with the other detective who pointed his index finger at his head and rotated it several times.

Philip; "..." (what's wrong with her, i haven't even started interrogating her yet. She really does look scared (sigh) looks like I'm not going to get anything out of her).

While they were distracted, Mrs Gonzales ran forward and dragged a pistol from the gun strap at the waist of the other detective. It happened so fast that even Philip didn't expect it.

*Bang!!!*

The sound of a gunshot reverberated through the entire household.

-"what's going on?"

-"why did i just hear a gunshot?"

-"over there....", the voice of officials questioning the cause of the gunshot could be heard while one of them pointed over to where Philip and rest were.

Everyone turned to stare at their location.

*Clatter! Clatter!! Clatter!!! Clatter!!!!*

That was sound of the chandelier breaking to pieces and falling on floor. A man could be seen holding a woman's left wrist up to the ceiling with a pistol in her hand. The man was none other than Philip.

Even though Philip was shocked when she grabbed the pistol to aim at her head, he was still able to react on time. He grabbed her hand at the last second and raised it up.

"Are you crazy?", Philip dragged the gun from her with his other hand and asked.

********On The Other Crime Scene********

*Pah! Pah!! Pah!!!*

Things were unfolding a lot differently here compared to the other crime scene.

clink! clink! clink! clink!

that was the sound of a person's teeth falling from his mouth and colliding with the hard cold ground.

"That sums it up to about 15 pieces of teeth. Very soon you'll be toothless unless you tell me what i want to hear", the sound of this demoness voice was like a death sentence to them anytime they heard her speak. Everyone in the area could feel cold sweats on their backs. The person who was the recipient of the torture could feel warm pee escaping his groin.

She looked at everyone of them again and grinned.

"There's more to come, so i really hope you don't give me any information yet"
