Chapter 18 - Chapter 18- Magic training

Previously: I laughed silently trying my best to hide it while Kayden growled and Jasper laughed but my laughter died in my throat when I saw claws escape from his nails his normal blue eyes changed to a deadly red I gasped and jumped back while grabbing the still laughing griffin taking some steps backward trying to create distance cause whatever was burring in Kayden was something deadly something I don't ever want to poke after all you never poke a sleeping bear, Kayden took some deep breaths I watched to claws reside and his eyes turn purple before returning his normal blue eye looking at us he started walking towards us and in response, I walked backward.

I didn't know or understand what happened I found myself staring at the sky lost and confused lying flat on the grass Jasper spread out lying flat beside me and fuzzy yet painless feeling in my head.

"Ugh, what happened?"I asked sitting up.

"Well, you ran into a tree chasing your beast."A voice said to me.

I turned to see Kayden looking down at me.

"What do you mean?"I asked trying to get up.

"Do you remember anything?"He asked taking my hand and pulling me up.

"Um, yes you were supposed to teach me magic but from there everything is blank," I said.

"Shall I tell you what happened then?" Kayden asked.

I nodded relieved to be getting any information concerning why I'm on the ground or why my head feels fuzzy.

I nodded again and turned to look at Jasper the lazy tiny griffin slept carelessly as usual, I slapped him hard on his back making him jump in pain.

"Yawooo, what was that for?"He exclaimed.

"To wake you up, so wake up you lazy asshole," I said raising my hand again.

"Fine fine I'm up," Jasper said stretching his wings lazily.

"Ugh, my head feels fuzzy."Jasper continued rubbing his head.

"What happened?"Jasper asked.

"Kayden was just about to tell us so shut up and sit down," I said sternly.

"You don't have to be so bossy," Jasper muttered under his breath.

"I'm not bossy, how dare y...."I trailed off.

I decided I'd shut up, I could argue with Jasper any day I want but I can't learn magic just as freely so I'll use my time wisely.

"Whatever Jasper, Kayden please continue," I said making Jasper pout and Kayden smirk.

'Boys, they're either too childish or too cocky or an unfortunate mixture of both apart from few but dang they're annoying, why do most have to be either cocky, childish or cocky, to the female inhabitants of this world I wish you the best of luck cause if this is our future race of males then we're doomed."

I sighed internally.

"Cora, aah I see you're back I may continue now," Kayden said with a nod

'I forgot to add blunt, ugh we truly are doomed.'

"So what happened was something about the beast being superior to you which angered you then you threw your shoe at him it hit him, he picked it up and ran away you chased him leading to the both of you running into a tree resulting in your former unconscious states and hazy minds."

"Well that explains it, it's Jasper's fault," I said glaring at him.

"How dare you blame me, you threw the shoe."He protested.

"I only did that cause you were obviously annoying everyone."I retorted.

"I see you're better and wide awake so we can begin our walk back to the palace."Kayden interrupted with a bored expression on his face.

"Palace what do you mean palace aren't you gonna teach me anymore," I argued.

"You're both angry, hazy a horrible environment for breeding magic if you're not calm, what you're doing to yourself isn't going to help you," Kayden stated.

"What do you mean?"I asked.

"Well what I mean is that anger eats away your magic slow replacing the good with the bad, you use dark magic any more bad is a bad idea it would-"Kayden stopped by my interruption.

"Wait hold up, Aaron said that I could learn it, and also you're not the nicest person and you know magic."I sassed.

"So Cora's anger shows once more; on other terms, I have no patience for insolence so yes I'm not the nicest but I'm not rude I'm simply blunt and I have no shame in it and you best adapt to it because I won't act any different towards you."He said without the slightest piece of care.

"Fine but I still want you to teach me magic ok," I said.

"Aren't you hurt? Don't you want to rest?"Kayden asked with his brow raised.

"I'm fine I don't need to rest I'm perfectly fine," I answered.

"Quite the amount of determination, I don't why I shouldn't teach so I teach you instead."He stated.

"Yes! Thanks, Kayden."I said.

"Oh, I'm not done, first reconcile with your beast."He said.

"I won't condone any sort of hostility between both of you, reconcile or I won't teach you and before it is asked I mean genuinely if not you won't be learning any magic in the nearer future," Kayden said in a stern tone.

"Fine, I'm sorry that I've been a little bitchy towards you lately I shouldn't have been so I apologize," I said.

"It's alright I forgive you and I'm sorry for being a pain in the ass I didn't mean to annoy you so I'm sorry," Jasper said.

"Hmm for once I agree with the beast, you certainly are a pain."Kayden interrupted.

"Hey!"Jasper exclaimed.

"Anyway, I forgive you for being an asshole," I said with a giggle.

"Hey, I never agreed on being called an asshole you bitch."Jasper said.

"Also, the use of vulgar words when I'm around is not permitted," Kayden said.

We both nodded.

"So, where's the training ground?"Jasper asked.

"Haven't you noticed?"Kayden asked.

"Noticed what?"I asked.

"I haven't noticed anything," Jasper added.

"We're here already," Kayden stated.

"Where's here?"Jasper asked.

"The training grounds," Kayden answered after a slight roll of his eyes.

At that, I and Jasper and I turned and scanned the entire arena it was shocking and beautiful.

"Wow."I and Jasper said at the same time.

"Wow indeed," Kayden said.

"So what do we do first do you show me a spell and I train on it or do I find my inner potential or what?"I asked excitedly.

"Neither of those things and we're practicing her yet," Kayden stated.

"Huh?"I said confused.

Which I was replied with by a sigh as Kayden walked away and I and Jasper followed till he got to a door and pushed it open and there was a huge hall beautiful and classic.

"Wow."I and Jasper exclaimed in unison.

"What's this place?"Jasper asked.

"It's the grand hall where a person's magical element is tested," Kayden stated.

"What's a magical element?"I asked.

"Oh, how shall I explain this?"Kayden said rubbing his temples

"You see magic comes in different forms and each individual has an element among those forms and it needs to be tested so your form is known, understood?"Kayden asked.

"Um sort of though what are the forms?"I asked earning a 'are you stupid' look from Kayden then a harsh sigh.

"The elements are water, fire, air, earth, ice, and light," Kayden said.

"What do those elements mean or do?"Jasper asked.

"Yeah, what do they stand for?"I added.

"Those forms are states that our magic is in or where our magic is strongest or where you feel comfortable or at ease with," Kayden answered.

"Those that means that if you use light magic your element is light?"I asked.

"Well originally light magic was from the light element but now it user doesn't necessarily have to have light forms like for example Aarons element is air,"Kayden stated.

"Oh, what's your element?"I asked.

"My element is ice and before you ask Quinn's is water," Kayden stated.

"Oh, so how are you gonna find out mine?"I asked.

"You see that circle over there?"Kayden asked pointing to the circle in the middle of the room and I nodded in response.

"Once you stand there it will tell us what your element is,"Kayden added.

"Oh,"I said.

"Wait if it's just the both of us then why is this place so big?"Jasper asked.

"Well simply because when children come of age we test their elements but since it's already been done so yours is to test it."Kayden said.

"Oh, that's it?"I asked.

"Yes, now no more infernal questions,"Kayden said irritated.

"Yeash, you're meant to teach me chill," I said.

"Well I wasn't trained nor meant to be one; I have been forced to teach you so do not provoke me," Kayden said.

"Fine, fine so now what?"I asked.

"Go stand within the circle," Kayden answered.

"Could you show me first?"I asked suddenly scared of what would happen there.

"What? Why would I do that?"Kayden asked.

"I want to see what would happen, please," I said.

"Is it necessary?"He asked.

"Pleaseeee,"I begged.

"Fine."He said walking towards the circle.

"Thank you," I said and he grunted.

He stood within the circle and a faint light glowed then it began to snow in the circle.

"Wow," I said.

"Are you content? Now your turn."He said stepping out of the circle not even wait for my reply.

It immediately stopped snowing once Kayden left and all the snow disappeared, I walked within the circle and stood soon a faint light shone till it grew brighter and brighter until the light was blinding bright and I stepped and the light faded.

"Cora, your element is light!"Kayden exclaimed his face shocked
