Chereads / Soul Eatēr / Chapter 2 - Commencement

Chapter 2 - Commencement

It was bright. In the small village called, Kai Koful. A village of a beautiful tribe who seek nothing but peace.

Friza stands. All dressed in a beautiful, silk, black robe. A red band wrapped around her thin waist, loose jogger like pants, two toed shoes that were wrapped in red bandages from the ankle to the knee.

Off in the distance sat a wonderful lake filled with joy and happiness. A leaf falls from The Tree of Wonder. A large tree standing almost as tall as 500 feet. And Friza stood just under it. Where the root of the tree sprouted from the lake whilst the stone flooring was built around the trunk.

Her feet stand together on the platform just on the lake. A large circle filled with red leaf pebbles and star light blocked by the branches that stretched feet across.

In the center of the circle, surrounded by a wooden gate was a table. A red cloth decorated with a beautiful dragon these people of Kai named Sear. The Dragon of Gaze. Many believe he's a myth yet others believe he is still out on this death planet somewhere lurking in the shadows.

Friza smiles, straightening her posture as Kaijin comes walking down the stone steps.

A large group of Kaians (Natives to this village) all dress in white aside from the newly graduated Soul Eaters.

Kaijin makes his way down the stone steps. Eyes looking at the table that held three weapons atop. Each one covered with a red cloth. Kaijin smirks, putting his hands behind his back.

His golden robe glistened in the shadows from The Tree of Wonder that let in very little star light.

"We did it." Kaijin stands behind the table. Hands placed neatly upon the dragon cloth as he looks at all 20 students.

Tall, short, thick, thin. All had thin eyes, pale skin, jet black hair, puffed lips, and perfect teeth. Each one sleeved down with a dragon tattoo only Soul Eaters are given ones graduated from the 20 Years Of Hell. He clears his throat. Two men come down, dressed in the white robe Kaians wore.

They dip their thumbs in a wooden bowl of red face powder.

"Once you are marked with red, you are required to stick by the Soul Eater way. All 20 of you worked hard. All 20 of you had rough nights, sleepless days. Blood, sweat, and tears put into this. But after today, you are no longer allowed to shed tears, but peace. Bring peace to this planet, bring peace, and respect to your families." Kaijin locks eyes with Friza.

Her eyes slowly drift off to the ground.

"I have placed you guys in a state of depression. In a state of fear, in a state of humbleness. And here you stand before me. Ready to begin a new life." Kaijin removes the cloth from the weapons.

On the table sat a sword. It's blade so sharp Friza could feel the sting of it just looking at it even through the sheath it resided in. The handle wrapped in a golden cloth around the jet black handle that connected to the blade of the katana. Symbols line the blade, engraved into it that read out the Soul Eater Way.

Next to the sword were nun-chucks. The handles jet black with a red cloth that wrapped around each one. At the end of the handle were sharp horns made from Dirt Dragon. The chain was so strong ten men could stand on it and it'll be fine as if no pressure was being applied.

Friza looks at the last weapon. It looked like a pole. A dragon engraved into the acrylic white of it. A golden button in the center of the weapon. On each end were two holds that led to the center of the weapon making Friza assuming some source came out of it such as a stream of heat or energy.

"Arlo Frenza. Step forward." Kaijin looks to his right. The tallest among all 19 of them steps forward.

He wears the same thing as everyone else. Hair long, put into a ponytail. His jawline straight, lips wonderful. He looks at Kaijin before making his way to the opposite side of the table. His his hands still behind his back.

"Sir." Arlo speaks.

"A wonderful student. The most brave of all." Kaijin places his hands back on the table. A small smirk on his face as he looks up at Arlo.

Arlo swallows in a sense of nervousness. Arlo too places his hands on the table. Kaijin holds out his palm in a welcome way.

"Sir?" Arlo whispers.

Arlo looks among the weapons. His hand shaking as he nervously reaches for the nun-chucks. Like something from a movie, it began glowing. A bright yellow color wowing the other students in a sensation of wanting the same feeling.

"Nun-chucks. A great choice. But it was not you who've chosen it. It has chosen you. The nun-chucks represent bravery. Something not all Soul Eaters acquire. Just like your father, you've been the most brave of all. Earning you his trophy to your own." Kaijin picks up the nun-chucks with both hands. Gently placing his fingers around them to not damage them in the slightest way.

With a simple bow, Kaijin holds them out for him. His eyes closed, balled head deflecting the star light that made it through the thick branches from above.

"I am honored." Arlo swallows. Holding out both his hands, Kaijin places the nun-chucks into his hands.

A sense of joy washes over him. He tries to hold back the smile that seemed to be slowly breaking out.

"You may excuse yourself." Kaijin lifts his head instantly looking Arlo in the eyes. Friza looks down.

"Zola Zani." Kaijin calls out.

Friza makes eye contact with her brother, Matteo Haman. His eyes piercing Friza as she looks to her left to see Zola making her way to the table.

She was so beautiful. Friza looks at the hourglass shape she had for a body. Her eyes a hazel color, lips pink and beautiful. Her skin so smooth aside the sleeve tattoo everyone including her had.

"You're fast. A Soul Eater has to be fast. Has to be be aware of their surroundings. Like your mother, you've proven to be the quickest Soul Eater amongst the 20 of you siblings. May the artifact choose you." Kaijin bows a little.

"Yes sir." Zola places both hands on the table.

Kaijin keeps his head bowed. Zola had such a blank expression. Her eyes slid across the katana and pole.

Zola holds her hands out at the pole. Kaijin smirks, lifting his head and locking eyes with Zola. From the corner of his eye, he could see it glowing a bright yellow color.

"The Tizona. It seems to like you." Kaijin picks it up with one hand, placing the other hand just under the current one before gently placing the weapon in Zola's palms. Her eyes lit up as she felt the nice metal scrape against her skin. The feeling of the engraved dragon so smooth.

"You may excuse yourself," Kaijin says.

Like Arlo, Zola left the circle. Kaijin takes a deep breath, looking around at the other 18 students he had.

"Friza Haman." Kaijin says.

Her heart drops as she looks at Matteo in shock. She takes a step forward, looking at Kaijin who grinned heavily.

The more steps she took, the more her heart beats. Her eyes focused on the katana as she now stands 2 feet away from the table. Placing her hands on the cloth, she looks Kaijin in his eyes.

"I think you know what has chosen you." Kaijin says.

Friza looks down at the sword.

"The Balmung." Kaijin smiles.

Friza places her hand on the holder. Her heart skipped beats as she slides her fingers to the handle of Balmung.

"Take it." Kaijin bows a little.

Friza picks Balmung up. Unsheathing it, a sharp noise pops out. The blade was a beautiful silver. So shiny and without a single scratch.

"You may be excused." Kaijin looks at Friza.

She makes eye contact with him once more. A smile softly forming on her face as she turns to walk away from the table. Looking at her brother, she smirks, trying to hold it back just as he does the same, still standing in the same position all the other students were.

Friza exits the circle, feeling the star light from above washing over her skin. She couldn't help but admire Balmung. She walks up the stone steps surrounded by the beautiful flowers and wonderful four winged butterflies. The sound of children laughing and running around filled the air. A great, natural ocean scent fills her nose as she looks around, holding Balmung to her side.

"Friza!" she hears.

Looking over, she sees Esther walking towards her. His thin body, long white cloak, and shiny black hair fly in the soft breeze.

"I see. You got Balmung!" He smiles. Holding his smooth hand up to the katana and rubbing the sheath.

"I am very honored to have it. Took me 20 years." Friza holds it up. Her fingers still a little purple from the other day on the other side of the planet she'd got done traveling from.

"Your life has now begun." Esther looks up at Friza. "We're about to eat dinner. I think you should join. Celebrate the comings of the new Soul Eater!" Esther smiles. Friza smiles, dropping her head down looking at the black robe wrapped with a red band around the waist.

They both begin walking. Esther places both hands together, bringing them into his chest as he looks down and at the wooden houses that sat on hills. Not only did they sit on hills but some were managed to be built into hills, acting as underground housing of sorts.

The top part of the houses had grass above them and each house having a small campfire that sat in front of each.

The hill they sat on and built into were in such a pattern, people would think it were some symbol or marking coming from extra terrestrial.

"How's Ellis doing? It's been a few weeks since I've seen her," Friza asks. Ellis being Esther's older sister.

"Ah, she's doing well. She found out she was going to be a mother in 11 months." Esther looks up ahead. In front of both Esther and Friza five kids run and jump in the dirt. Rolling around in a circle was a Toda. A small animal with a shell so hard, it was nearly impossible to pierce. It had five eyes, six legs, and 2 years. The skin was a tan color, and it curled into a ball for protected for it had no defense.

They kick the Toda around for fun for these creatures were some of the most friendliest ones on this side of the planet.

"When does dinner start?" Friza looks at Esther. They stop in front of a small home built into a hill. The roof covered with a grass layer that too had a cottage standing above it with a lawn and a gate.

"39:00 o'clock. Ellis is expecting you to be there. But we know you. You'll show up." Esther smiles.

Friza grips her sword. "Very well then. I'll see you soon. Farewell." Friza shakes his hand. Esther walks off the lawn, following the dirt path up the hill and to another line of cottages stacked atop of one another.
