Damien's POV♣️.
" Morning." Kimia said as she entered the kitchen yawning. She sat on a stool and placed her head on the kitchen island.
" Morning. What's up with you?" I asked her as I turned down the heat on my scrambled eggs. She raised her head and gave me a very lazy smile.
" I just had the best sleep I have had in days."
She walked up to me and gave me a hug.
" Thank you."
I kissed her on her forehead and smiled.
" You're welcome."
" So what's for breakfast?" She asked as she sat.
" Breakfast?, I'm having bacon and scrambled eggs with toast. But I wasn't sure if you'll like it so I only made enough for myself."
She gave me a blank look and I chuckled. I dished out some eggs onto the plate with strips of bacon.
" Toast is on its way." I said as I slid the plate over to her.
" Thanks." She mumbled but it was stifled by a yawn. She picked a piece of bacon and was about to put it in her mouth but she missed and it fell back on the plate.
" Wow!, You weren't kidding when you said you had a really good sleep."
" No I wasn't. My brain is still booting and my eyes are still clouded with sleep. I need something to awaken me. Pass me the mug."
" Mia there's coffee in there-"
She shushed me and to a gulp of my black coffee. She swallowed it and then wretched.
" Eww!, How do you people drink this stuff it's so bitter!" She shuddered in disgust.
I shook my head and picked up an empty mug. I opened the fridge and brought out her choclate milk and poured some out for her. She took it greedily and took a huge gulp and sighed in satisfaction.
" You do know that there are other kinds of coffee right?, Cappuccino, Mocha, Lattes. They're sweeter but I prefer mine black."
" Like your soul." She snorted and I sighed.
" Can you please put on my laptop?, I want to check on the toast."
" Sure." She walked out of the kitchen to the dining room where my laptop was sitting on the table.
" Dam you have a request for a video call from Jason!" She yelled from the dining.
" Okay, can you please pick it up and tell him I'll be with him soon?"
" Sure!"
" Thanks babe!" I replied as I put the toast on a small platter. I walked into the dining just as Kimia accepted the video call.
" Hey Jason!" She greeted grinning.
" Heyyyy!, Kim how you doing?"
" I'm peachy, you?"
" I'm doing great thanks for asking. You look amazing."
" Awwn thanks. It feels really nice to hear that."
" Damien doesn't tell you?"
" Not enough."
" Why don't you ditch him and be with me instead. I promise I'll treat you like a queen, I'll give you anything you want and tell you you're beautiful every day."
" Hmmm that's a really tempting offer."
" So what do you say?"
" Be careful I might actually take you up on that offer."
" I'm kind of hoping you will."
I decided it was time for me to make my presence known and I spoke,
" Quit trying to steal my girlfriend Jason." I said.
I looked at Kimia but she showed no signs of protest when I called her my girlfriend.
" It's not my fault you don't treat her right!" Jason retorted and I glared.
" I treat her right!" I said defensively.
" He does." Kimia giggled.
" He made dinner yesterday night and it was so romantic." She said smiling and I smiled smugly at Jason.
" So is there a reason as to why you called?" I asked. His eyes flickered to Kimia and then back to me sending me a message that it was a private conversation.
" I'll leave you two to talk." Kimia said she went into the kitchen and came out with her plate of bacon and eggs and now with a piece of toast in one hand and her mug filled with chocolate milk in the other.
" It was nice talking to you Jason."
" Yeah maybe I should get your number so that we could talk more often." Jason said winking and she laughed.
" Not gonna happen." I stated and Kimia smiled clearly amused.
" You don't own me Dam. Be careful, I might give him my number just to spite you." She said winking before going upstairs.
" Dam huh?" Jason asked giving me a knowing smile and I flipped him off.
" It is really obvious that you're enjoying this mission."
" So what is it?"
" Rude!" He exclaimed and I rolled my eyes.
" But I'mma let that slide. So I have great news."
" What is it?!"
" Impatient much?, Well the presiding judge for Rosa's case was undergoing some corruption allegations and they found out that he was being paid off by the wealthy families of the cases he presided over. So they are willing to look into some of those cases and I already filed a petition for Rosa's case to be included.
So if all goes well, she should be granted a re trial and set free with compensation for all the time she had spent in jail and she will also be granted full custody of her son."
" Jason that's great news!"
" I know."
" Wow!, Kimia is going to be over the moon. Dude thank you!"
" But I still don't have any leads on Kimia's case. But there's definitely something fishy."
" What?, what do you find fishy?"
" Well I was going through the case file again and noticed that it contained a copy of the call log of her ex, Nathan. According to Kimia's statement, she had received a call from Nathan before she went home but it was missing from Nathan's call log. But I noticed a significant amount of calls from Melissa."
" Mia's step mother." I breathed out and he nodded.
" And there's also the fact that they both got together about a month after Kimia was sentenced to jail. Coincidence?, I think not."
" Isn't that enough evidence?"
" With that I can only prove that Nathan and Melissa were having an affair. I can't prove that they had anything to do with Mr Reynolds death."
" Okay." I sighed.
" Thanks man."
" You're welcome. But I have a favour to ask."
" What is it?"
" Tell her the truth." He stated and I shook my head.
" Jason I can't."
" Why not?!"
" She's going to hate me. And I don't think I can live with that."
" Damien the longer you lie to her the more heartbroken she'll be. Kimia is an amazing girl who has been through a lot. Don't add to her pain."
" I don't want to but I can't tell her yet. At least not now. I'm finally getting her to open up to me."
" Damien you can't lie to her forever."
" I know. I'll tell her. Look, I have never felt this way about anyone in my entire life!"
" Not even Sasha?"
" Not even Sasha! Kimia is just so different. And I have never felt this strongly about a girl before. From the moment I met her in that prison I felt a connection. I'm happier with her. I don't want to lose her."
" But you'll have to tell her eventually."
" I know."
" I gotta go. Bye!"
" Bye!"
I shut the laptop and sighed.
I couldn't tell her yet or else she'll hate me.
But I also didn't want to lose her.
What am I going to do?
" You guys done?" Kimia asked standing at the top of the stairs.
" Yeah we are."
" Cool." She walked down with the dirty dishes and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I'll tell her.
" So I have good news."
" Then tell me." She said shaking her head playfully.
I explained what Jason had said and she started tearing up.
" Mia are you okay?"
" I'm fine. I'm just so happy that Rosa's finally getting justice. She already lost hope and now this!" She said wiping the tears that were rolling down her cheeks.
" Thank you. Thank you so much Damien. You are an amazing guy. I don't know how I can ever repay you." She said with glossy eyes.
How am I supposed to tell her now?
" You're probably the world's best boyfriend." She said and she kissed me hard.
" Thank you." She breathed out as we pulled back for air.
I'll tell her later.
