Chapter 23 - '2.3' If your aim is true

It soared through the air.

I held my breath for a single second.

I closed my eyes, breathing in the air around me.

I opened it and heard a roar of pain.

I smiled, but it instantly disappeared.

It hit a dragon alright...

My dragon.

.

.

.

My eyes stared in horror as her pale white figure soared upwards with an arrow lodged to her side. My heart stopped. Time stopped at the moment I realized it wasn't just me who shot her.

To my right, guards with an endless supply of arrows stood at the edge of the clearing firing bolts of wood at the dragon that I call my own.

I suppressed a scream. I suppressed my tears. I suppressed all of it. Everything. Just like I always do. Yet eventually, there's just so much that the dragon can take before it fires its flames.

But I suppressed it.

I stared at the bow with unmatched anger in my eyes. I dropped it and ran towards Hiccup, hoping that the night will conceal my face and figure.

My fingers automatically drew daggers and began launching them forwards. Toothless spun around with as much fury in his eyes like mine.

I jumped, pulling a dagger out of my back, and struck the dagger in his backbone before his tail hit me away.

His roar echoed and soon all the other dragons attacked as well. The Nadder's spines shot forward, the Monstrous Nightmare fired his fire with wrath, the Zippelback drew its nasty breath and lit it up.

But they all fired at the wrong place and at the wrong time. I appeared at their right, lifting my hand in the air and then pulling it down with force. Battle cries resounded throughout the clearing as they ran and shot their arrows. "Run!" I heard Hiccup's voice yell.

"Not so fast, Hiccup!" Viggo roared, standing up and pulling out his sword. He lunged forward crashing into Hiccup's shield. Then the war began. It certainly felt like it, with me standing on the sidelines eagerly watching the battle between The Hunters and Savers.

That feeling came again. The feeling that what I was doing was wrong. I was wrong and where I am is wrong. I took a gasp of air as loud and inaudible noises clashed nearby me. My eyes watered with tears as the adrenaline in my veins became too much.

I ran to where Destiny dropped me off and scanned the sky and ground for any signs of her return. There was none.

I put my back against the rocks, listening to the fight behind me. I closed my eyes, trying to calm myself. I just shot a dragon and not just any dragon. Mine. Guilt was biting against my insides making me want to jump in a hole and die.

I had an urge to run. So I opened my eyes and started running the other way. "Imora...you stupid little brat! Destiny is probably fuming! Why though? Why did she... block Toothless?" I gasped for breath. I wasn't the fittest, to be honest.

"Was she protecting him? Why...protect ...him? I gotta find her." I mumbled to myself, hoping no one is hearing me. The fact that I was running on the sand just made the whole situation worse, since sand has a very good method of slowing you down.

"Destiny!" I yelled to the sea. "Destiny!" I screamed to the air. "Destiny..." I mumbled to the ground.

There was a large thump behind me and before I could turn around in the split second, I was knocked over. I groaned and held my sides. My eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the dark.

"Destiny? Is that you?" I ask unsurely. I hopped my eyes were playing tricks on me as the familiar white figure stood there, hissing at me. " I'm sorry girl. I am so sorry, I didn't mean to, I didn't know. So so sorry." I quickly mumbled, trying to control my oncoming sobs.

Her figure protectively hunched over me as she started rubbing her head against mine.

"So sorry." I choked. I hugged her head tightly, afraid she will turn against me.

"Shoot that dragon!" Voices yelled behind me. Both of us looked back. My heart sped up with incredible force. Multiple guards were running towards us, shooting their arrows and throwing their spears.

Destiny roared and blasted a purple plasma to the sand in front of them, making some of them fall to the ground. They persisted and moved quicker, causing me to draw out a few daggers as a warning.

" Stand back!" I shouted, making them pause for a second or two. On they marched, causing me to launch daggers left and right. My subconscious yelled at me to stop- fearing that my daggers may soon run out. " Destiny! Fly!" I yelled, bouncing upon her silver-white back. Her wings shot up and caused a wind so strong that it knocked the guards over.

"Viggo," I whispered, guiding Destiny towards the showoff between the two tribes, completely forgetting her injuries.

And forward we went - with me knowing that the game I was playing, was indeed a dangerous one.
