It was a warm spring day. The cherry blossoms were lively as the wind blew its leaves on the school grounds. The children are running around the courtyard playing tag, and some are just sitting on a brown bench, admiring the beauty of the dancing leaves of the cherry blossom trees.
A petal was slowly falling, getting pulled by the wind. The small pink petal landed on top of a black-haired teenage girl. The girl didn't notice the petal on her head. While having her earphones on, she was busy looking at the beauty that surrounds her.
Being in a state of tranquility, she didn't notice that a brown-haired boy was coming to her direction.
"Hey, Violet! Good to see you here," the boy greeted her, but there was no response. The boy took notice of Violet's earphones. He sighed. He waved his hand in front of the girl's face to catch her attention.
Violet came back to her senses, instinctively removing an earbud. "Oh hey, Connelly. Sorry, I didn't notice you there," she embarrassedly said, putting her hand on her nape.
Instead of giving her a proper response, Connelly scolded her. "That's why you have to be much more wary of your surroundings and keep the volume of your music down! What if you're in public and you get kidnapped?!"
"Yeah yeah, I get it already," she rolled her eyes. "You've told me that so many times."
"But you never follow them," Connelly retorted, smirking at her.
"... Touché," Violet nodded bitterly in defeat. The two just shared a laugh.
Connelly noticed a petal from the cherry blossom tree on her head. While Violet was looking at her phone, he secretly took the petal and kept it in his pocket.
"What are you doing just standing there, Connie? Take a seat. I can hear your legs are crying from walking all the way from your house," she teased.
"I told you so many times to not call me that, Lynn," Connelly playfully hit her arm. Violet rolled her eyes at the nickname. He proceeded to sit down beside her, putting his head on her shoulder.
The two were best friends ever since they were young. They studied in their current school throughout their lives, so their bond is almost inseparable. In that case, they were used to doing things like putting one's head on another's shoulder, hugging, and the sorts.
He saw Violet's bag on the ground. He noticed that she was being extra careful with that bag. Out of curiosity, he grabbed the bag without Violet's knowledge. Connelly went through her bag. It was filled with art materials. But something caught his eyes; a sketchbook. He flipped the pages. Every drawing shows patience and love for art. It was all elegantly drawn.
He stopped at a certain page. "Woah! Is this Xylan Griffin?" he asked, confused.
"What? Hey, give me that!" Violet's face was burning with embarrassment.
Xylan is Violet's classmate and Connelly's teammate on their varsity team. He is very much popular with the girls, and maybe even guys. His captivating looks, friendly attitude, charismatic personality, everything about him is perfect!
Violet isn't as close with Xylan as with Connelly, but their bond was slowly built throughout the months they were classmates. There might've been some times where they jokingly flirted with each other, but Violet knows that it doesn't mean anything.
Connelly stood up and raised the sketchbook as high as he could so Violet couldn't reach it. "So, do you plan on ever confessing to him?" Connelly playfully asked her.
"Yeah, I do. I'm just too shy to tell him." Connelly didn't expect her to admit it that fast. He really is her best friend.
"Just confess, it's that easy," he shrugged, giving back the sketchbook to Violet.
"Easy? Then why haven't you confessed to your cru—"
Before she can finish her sentence, the bell rang, signaling that it's time for class.
"For personal reasons," he smiled innocently at her.
"Right," Violet said with a sarcastic tone. "Anyway, see you later!"
Connelly just nodded. The two went to their respective classes.
While Connelly was walking to his designated classroom, he felt a slight pang in his chest. He didn't pay any mind to it and continued to go to his class.

Time flew by and it's now recess time. Violet was supposed to eat her food with Connelly, but since her best friend has a practice game with another school for basketball, she went straight to the school's gymnasium. She's there to support her best friend as well as her love interest, Xylan.
She sat on the first row bleachers to... well, have a good view of the boys. Connelly saw Violet waving at him, so he waved back.
The game has started and she was eating while watching intently on both boys, glancing back and forth. Although that was the case, Violet kept looking at Xylan. When Connelly shot a three, he looked at Violet hoping that she was cheering for him, but she had her eyes fixed on Xylan. He frowned.
After some time, the first half of the game was over. The players were quenching their thirst and wiping their sweat. Violet secretly wanted to take a picture of Xylan all hot and sweaty.
She grabbed her phone from her bag and pointed it in his direction. She began taking pictures. It was going well, until a girl suddenly got into the camera's frame. She first hugged him and gave him some water.
Violet was shocked at this revelation. She didn't know that Xylan had a significant other. No one in their class knew, not even Violet.
She looked at her best friend to check if he looked confused too, but he was looking the other way, talking to his teammates. Is it possible that he already knew about it?
Suddenly, she felt something building up in her chest. She has this strong urge to cough. Is she choking on her food? Is she going to throw up? She left her things on the bleachers and ran to the nearest restroom. Fortunately, there weren't any people inside. All of them must be busy watching the intense game.
She opened the first restroom stall she saw. She's choking. She's having trouble breathing. Violet thought she'd throw up the food that she ate, but it was much worse.
She forced herself to cough, resulting in blood, together with white and yellow flower petals, coming out of her mouth. Her pink, dried lips were now covered in scarlet blood. The metallic smell of it was lingering in all corners of the restroom stall. Even the toilet seat and her uniform was noticeably bloody.
The next thing she knew was that tears were streaming down her cheeks. The blood was now mixed with tears.
What's happening to her? What could this be?
She went outside the stall after she cleaned the toilet seat with water. She fixed herself in front of the large mirror. Her uniform was still covered with red stains. Her chest was still unbearably aching. All she wanted to do right now is to lock herself inside her room and sleep.
She was inside the restroom for quite some time now, sitting on the floor. She checked her wristwatch on her left wrist. "I skipped two classes already?!" she said to herself, shocked at the time. Violet slowly stood up and gathered up her strength to go back.
She ran back to the gymnasium and went straight to the bleachers she sat on earlier. The training was done and she thought there were no more people inside. She hurriedly grabbed her stuff and packed her bag, hoping that no one sees her in this state. Her uniform is still covered in blood, so the other students or staff might think that she murdered someone.
"What the hell happened to you?!"
