Chapter 15 - Chapter Thirteen

I could understand Azaizal's as you are supposed to wait for your mate rather than pick a random female, although some do as some have lost there mate. Many things can cause this so males and females who pick who they want to mate with have either lost there mates or had gotten rejected, which can also happen. The only downside to this is that most rejected pairs die.

I can't help but be curious as to whether Azaizal has found his mate. Even though I can't smell a female on him, I have to ask him. The thought of him possibly having a mate makes me feel quite jealous. Despite the feeling that I shouldn't be, I needed to know.

"Hey Azaizal, have you found your mate?" I held my breath, keeping my emotions from him regretting asking. I don't know if I want to know the answer now.

He stares down at me for a few minutes seemingly exploring my eyes before answering. "No I haven't, I don't think I have one."

I breathed a sigh of relief but all I felt was sorrow for him. Why did he think he didn't have a mate? Everyone has one, don't they?

"Why would you think that Azaizal?" I ask him.

He stares straight ahead of us and I saw him take a deep breath in and then out through his nose, thinking this was him about to reply I waited, but I was met with silence and he stopped my from being able to sense his emotions.

After a long five minutes I'd given up on the thought of getting an answer, so I just focused my mind on where we were going when his voice suddenly sounded in my head. I jumped slightly but listened closely as his voice was almost a whisper.

"Being a prince and royalty, we get to find our mates at sixteen, I'm now twenty and I still haven't found her. After my parents death I just didn't think I'd be given a mate since there death was my fault." Without giving me a second glance he trotted forward and stayed a few feet ahead.

I was about to respond to him and tell him his parents death wasn't his fault, but I never got the chance as he announced that we were at the castle. Sure enough we were.

I glanced up and stared at it's beauty. It's surrounded by a large field, though there's a large stone pathway in the centre of it, circling a large fountain in front of the large front doors.

The large front doors are large brown, a striking contrast to the light grey stone of the castle. There's a lot of ivy with blue and white flowers surrounding the walls.

It was breathtaking from a distance, but up close it was extravagant.

I take notice that the flowers are part of the kingdoms colours. Royal blue, white and gold. As I look around I notice there are a lot of wolves on the field, pups, teens and adults. Everyone looked so relaxed and happy.

My tail swishes as I watch the pups play together, I always loved kids and they were all having such a good time. I hadn't noticed I'd stopped until my side is poked. I search for the cause to see Azaizal next to me once again.

"Was your childhood like this Ella?" He asked, while staring at the pups rolling around on the grass. I smiled mentally and continued watching them, ignoring the flashbacks of my childhood.

"I wish it was. I was the daughter they never wanted. Being the Beta my father and mother wanted a son so that he could take over as Beta when he was older, and if anything happened to the Alpha, he could step up as Alpha. When they found they were getting a daughter they weren't interested anymore. They still kept me of course but it wasn't the carefree life everyone else had. I was born small which meant that everyone thought I was weak, hence being made a runt. I was made to do most things for the pack, my only freedom was training with Alpha Alec." I ended my response there trying to fight back the tears remembering how if I didn't do something right or it wasn't good enough some of the pack members, including my own parents would give me the odd punch or kick.

In holding back the emotions, I forgot to put my walls back up and Azaizal felt them all. He let me feel his emotions too, his reassurance stood out the most.

Azaizal presses against me and rests his large head over my shoulders, a hug. He licks my ear before pulling away. "You're ok little wolf. You don't have to deal with them now, you're here."

He was right, I was here in the kingdom and I finally felt free. I licked his cheek. "Thank you big wolf."

He gave me a wolfish grin. "Now come on, my uncle knows you're with me. I need to take you to your room so you can change and get ready for the meal where he explains everything that's going on."

I follow him closely into the castle with a skip in my step, Suddenly feeling the nerves.
