Chapter 20 - Learning about Vampires

"Okay... So far, from what I know... Vampires feed off on blood," Luna is in Ronnie's room, asking him questions about vampires for their project. Ronnie was laying on his bed while Luna was taking notes on the edge of the bed.

"We need plasma to survive but we also eat regular things. My mom has a vegetarian friend that drinks coconut water instead of blood," Ronnie added. Luna wrote that down.

"They can be in sunlight and not burn to death but they can't use their powers during the day," She added.

"True, but, there's a special pendant a vampire can wear so they can use some of their powers during the day. We can easily get sunburned though," He explained.

"They aren't weak against garlic or running water. What about drowning?" Luna asked.

"Vampires can't drown, we don't exactly need oxygen to survive, but it is a preference," That's probably why Ronnie is a good swimmer.

"... D-does that mean there might be vampires living underwater, or vampire fish?" Luna questioned.

"... I... uh... l-let's change the subject," Ronnie suggested, weirded out by the thought of vampire mermaids/fishes.

"Okay... weaknesses like silver, decapitation, or fire?" Luna was hesitant to ask. She figured none of those things were weaknesses, but she had to make sure.

"What the hell? If you set someone on fire then they're obviously gonna die, same if you decapitate them," Ronnie explained, dumbfounded. These ridiculous vampire myths are getting out of hand.

"Figures... What about silver..?" Luna knew some people are allergic to silver; after all, she's allergic to nickel.

"A lot of vampires have nickel allergies," Ronnie said as he sat up and stretched out. All of a sudden, the lights went out.

"What the hell? This is unusual..." Ronnie commented, getting off his bed.

"Eh?" Luna was unaffected. In her area, It's normal for the lights to go out for a few minutes because of storms and other tropical occurrences.

"I'm gonna light a few candles. Be right back," Ronnie said, leaving his room to find some matches.

"I'll just stay here, then. Scream or something if you need help," Luna sarcastically said, sitting on his bed.

"Gotcha," Ronnie chuckled. He got a lighter and lit a few candles in the halls so he could see better.

"There, we go..." Ronnie stated. He was about to walk back to his room only to get disrupted by someone trying to stab him, but Ronnie caught the person's arm before that could happen.

"Very funny Seb..." Ronnie said annoyed, thinking the butler was doing his random reflex test.

"Wait... You're not Sebastian..." Ronnie turned and looked at the perpetrator. It was hard to see his appearance due to the dark halls but it defiantly wasn't Xavier, Vladimir, or the butler. They had dark hair while this person has white hair, and it definitely wasn't his mom. While Ronnie was distracted the white-haired person stabbed him in the side.

"Shit..." Ronnie stumbled back, holding his side where he was stabbed.

"hm...? You're not Vladimir..." The man spoke.

"My... dad...?" Ronnie muttered. The white-haired guy got closer, with a different knife.

"You'll have to do then..." He tried striking Ronnie but he quickly moved out of the way. Luna had a feeling something was wrong so she went to check on Ronnie and found a man with white hair trying to stab him. Quickly, she made a Kunai from her Shadow and threw it at the person but he dodged it.

"Luna, what are you doing?" Ronnie shouted, worried. He didn't want Luna to get hurt, but unfortunately, she didn't hear him. Luna ran towards the white-haired guy and tried to stab him but he blocked the kunai with his knife. Ronnie tried moving but fell on the floor due to the stab.

"Fuck..." He groaned in pain. While the guy was distracted Luna punched him in the stomach, near his ribcage knocking him out. She pushed him away so he wouldn't fall on her, then went to Ronnie's aid.

"Are you okay? That was dumb, you're obviously not okay, some dude tried to kill you," Luna muttered the last part.

"Da... I-I'm fine..." Ronnie breathed, shakily.

"And I'm a dog. You're not ok, you've been stabbed," Luna kneeled down, inspecting the stab wound.

"D-don't worry about it, I'll heal fast," Ronnie assured, trying to take the knife out, fast.

"Hey, don't do that! You could make it worse," Luna remarked.

"Luna, I told you, I'm a fast healer," Ronnie reminded her.

"Ronnie, that probably has traces of nickel..." She explained.

"What? How do you know?" he asked, surprised.

"The guy most likely knew you're a vampire, and since he was planning on killing you, I doubt he would use a regular kitchen knife..." She explained. Luna slowly pulled the knife out, then put Ronnie's jacket over it, applying pressure. He winced of course, but he found it kinda hot/cute that Luna's playing doctor.

"Is there a first aid kit nearby?" She asked.

"Somewhere, probably..." Ronnie chuckled, awkwardly.

"This place is HUGE! It'll take too long to look for some bandages," She exasperated. So, instead, Luna put Ronnie's arm over her shoulder and used her Shadow portal to teleport to her room, and rested him on her plain red bed.

"They needed to be washed anyway," Luna mumbled before entering her bathroom inside her room. Ronnie looked around Luna's room. The walls were red with a few painted designs such as black roses, and a sakura tree branch. The carpet was a simple cream color. On the ceiling stars and a crescent moon were painted there. Luna also had a few posters of her favorite bands, anime, video games.

"She plays with action figures? Cute..." Ronnie smiled. Luna came back to her room with a first aid kit and a wet towel. She removed the jacket and pulled up Ronnie's shirt, revealing his six-pack abs, (I'm sorry but you know I had to it!) and gently cleaning off blood.

"So... Where's your wolf looking dog?" Ronnie asked.

"Banjo? He's outside digging holes. Dad's gonna be annoyed... Why do you ask?" Luna replied.

"Just curious... He's... interesting..." Ronnie said, hesistantly.

"You met him?" Luna put the towel away and grabbed the gauze.

"Yeah... Movie night, I took you home and your dog started growling at me..." Ronnie awkwardly laughs.

"Banjo can be overprotective," Luna giggled, wrapping the wound.

"You sure he doesn't hate me?" He had his doubts.

"Nah! Banjo loves everybody! He probably thought you were gonna hurt me or something..." Banjo loves everybody, he wants random strangers to pet him and call him pretty.

"I did though..." Ronnie whispered, still guilty about biting Luna.

Flashback

Ronnie was in front of Luna's house, carrying her bridal style. He rang the doorbell, nervous. He thought Luna's parents were going to kill him when they see him carrying their sleeping daughter.

"Wer ist- Oh... What happened to Luna?" Her dad answered the door, he was pretty chill but would definitely kill Ronnie if he hurt Luna.

"She fell asleep during the movie and I couldn't wake her up," He answered.

(HE'S NOT GONNA BELIEVE THAT!) Ronnie thought, nervously.

"Oh, sounds like Luna. Don't worry about it, she's a heavy sleeper," Gerhardt explained, taking Luna from Ronnie.

"Well, I should-"

"GRRRrrrrrr!" Banjo was behind the door, growling at Ronnie, showing his sharp teeth.

"Eeep!" He yelped. Banjo looked scary.

"That's Banjo, don't worry, he's just overprotective of Luna," Gerhardt smiled.

"Just give him some treats and he'll love you forever," Luna's eyes lit up when she talked about her dog.

"BANJO STOP DIGGING IN THE ROSE GARDEN! BLAZE IS GONNA KILL ME WHEN SHE SEES THIS! Her dad ran outside in a panic. Banjo decided to dig up a few roses instead of digging holes in the far back yard in search of moles.

Meanwhile Back at the castle.

"Ah, much better, now the lights are back on," A certain butler with blackish-brown hair sighed in relief. He went downstairs to the basement to fix the lights so he wasn't there to see the intruder. He walked over to Ronnie's room to see if everything was okay and found the intruder, knocked out.

"Hm...? This looks like an assassin..." He commented, inspecting the mysterious guy. Then he saw a puddle of blood on the floor.

"This smells like Ronnie's blood..." Sebastian sniffed it. He left that alone, grabbed the assassin and took him somewhere more secure, then went to tell Kayako.

Kayako was in her meditation room, which was already dark, so she didn't notice the blackout.

"Kakayo-Sama, there's something I need to tell you," Sebastian slid open the door quietly as possible.

"What is it, Sebastian? You know I do not like being interrupted!" She hissed. The flames went out on the scented candles, as she lost her focus. Kayako hated being interrupted during her rituals.

"I found an assassin," Sebastian stated, grabbing Kayako's attention.

"Nanda?" She muttered, concerned.
