The next morning the four of them all got up early with Marcus actually being the first to wake. He let out a short sigh like yawn as he got dressed and carried the things he'd packed to take with him which was his dagger, the chest piece he'd made with their family crest in it and some change of clothes.
Thus with bag in paw he slowly descended the stairs to the living room area where they'd all say one last good bye before heading out except since he was the first up and ready he just sat in front of the fireplace staring into the flames. In the flames he could almost see a group of four warriors looking at him through the flames.
The first was a older version of himself just standing there in elegant white and gold robes yet something else was different about him. Then there was a thief sneaking around the flames as if looking for treasures. Then there was a mouse warrior standing tall and brave to the far side of the flames. While across the flames from the mouse was a quite Samurai kneeling and meditating. Just then a squirrel scholar approached the warrior that resembled himself and kissed his cheek before the whole image faded as someone called his name.
"Marcus? Marcus is everything okay?" asked a tired Rebekah as she slowly and tired like walked over to him and sat by his side.
"Oh Morning Rebekah. Did you sleep well?" asked Marcus with a half smile.
"Not really." sighed Rebekah, "Can I ask you something?"
"What is it Rebekah? Is everything okay?" asked Marcus a bit worried and concerned.
"Yah everything is okay. I was just wondering what you saw when you looked into the flames?" asked Rebekah.
"Oh, this time or every time?" asked Marcus nervously.
"You mean each time it's something different?" asked Rebekah both shocked and confused.
"Yes. Sometimes it's the near future and sometimes it seems like either the distant future or some unknown land. Then sometimes it seems to be almost impossible to understand what exactly it is." explained Marcus with a sigh as he looked away.
Just then James and Joy walked into the living area with their bags and Joy yawned, "Explain why we have to leave so early again?"
"Because it's going to be a long enough trip and I'd rather spend most of it traveling and not sleeping. You forget that I have to return home alone after this trip." sighed James as he looked down at his son and Rebekah who'd turned to look up at them.
"Dad you could take some of you stock and try to sell it and get mom a beautiful gift to help her feel happy when you return." suggested Marcus as he slowly got to his feet and walked over to his father with a smile.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea. Maybe Marcus can even help you pick it out then it would mean so much more." replied Joy with a smile. "Then again it's going to be quit the ordeal to explain what's going on to my grandfather. I just hope my brother hasn't been causing him too many problems while we've been away."
"If he did then you and me can straighten him up and then after that you'll have Marcus to look out for you and your family." replied James as he grabbed Marcus', Rebekah's and his own bags.
"Thanks for all you've done and you should know that my grandfather and I already consider you and your family as part of our family. That's why I'm worried about what my brother might have done while we were gone." sighed Joy as she followed him out. They were then closely followed by Marcus and Rebekah of whom's paw he took with a smile.
Then just before leaving the house Marcus set a small note addressed to his mother next to the door. He wanted to give it to her personally but also knew if she was awake there was no way they were going to get out of town before sunrise thus why he's leaving her a note telling her how much he loves her and will miss her.
Marcus then helped Rebekah into the wagon before going and helping his father carry and load up a few of the tools and daggers that he' forged over the past weeks. Once they had loaded everything up and Marcus joined Joy and Rebekah in the back of the wagon before his father slowly drove the wagon down the road and out of town. Joy tried to get some more sleep as the wagon bounced along the road while Rebekah sat in silence as Marcus watched the little village that he's only ever known and called home.
"Marcus I know it's hard to have to move but you'll get used to it eventually." softly encouraged Rebekah finally after watching him for a bit.
"I know I was just wondering if I'd ever see this place again is all." replied Marcus before turning to face her with a half smile.
"I think you will, and when you do I have a feeling these fools will have a completely opposite prospective of you and your magic." replied Rebekah with a grin. "You see I know you and I know that the gods wouldn't have given you those eyes if you weren't destined for greatness."
"Thanks Rebekah you've alway been a good friend to me and I really wish there was more I could do for you in return." sighed Marcus as he gently took her paw and smiled at her glade that she was taking this journey along with him.
