Chapter 4 - A Meeting with Mr. Wolf

Mercredi sighed. Her jet lag was beginning to creep in.

As the lights of the bar flickered back and forth between, blue, purple, and pink. She squeezed her nose bridge and took off her glasses.

The bartender's gaze gravitated to the girl. She had a babyface but her eyes were shaped like that of a fox, it didn't help that her grey irises reflected back the lights making her seem even more mystical. With her glasses, she was simply cute but without them the hypnotizing batting of her thick lashes made others blink with her.

Dealing with Claudia sometimes was really exhausting, she suddenly stopped here saying she needed to talk to her manager after they called her. Most likely to chew her out for what happened at the airport, no doubt.

Mercredi lifted up her head, the nearest bartender looked away. Weird.

"Do you...make smoothies here?" She asked the bartender.

"What would miss like?"

"Strawberry-banana smoothie please, ah, with milk!"

She hadn't eaten yet now that she thought about it.

"Hold on can I look at your menu?"

The bartender nodded and placed it in front of her.

"The fried chicken sliders with blue cheese sauce please!" Perhaps it was all the fried chicken talk from earlier but she was craving that now too.

As she drummed her fingers on the counter in eager excitement, a young man seated himself on the barstool beside her.

Mercredi blinked. Even though there were so many empty bar stools...

"Whiskey. Straight."

Mercredi pretended to study her phone as she used the reflection of her phone screen as a mirror.

("See whether this person is a schmuck or not!",)

He was tall, though to her all men were. She's not sure if it's due to the tinted lighting, but his eyes seemed especially sharp and sinister.

The longer she studied him, the quickly she realized his gaze was lingering on her butt.

She was a petite girl, but her butt and thighs were a bit meaty...

Mercredi shivered. She sat up straight, draping her jacket over her lap, and shot him a glare.

"Finished?" He suddenly asked before she could complain.

"Huh? Excuse me?!"

He gestured towards her phone. "Weren't you staring at me?"

Mercredi blinked. The gall of this man. He checked her out first!

"Only because I could feel you eyeing me like a slab of meat Monsier Wolf!"

"Your drink, miss, sir." The bartender placed it down in front of her and the man's whiskey in front of him.

"Thank you!" Her outrage dissipated for a moment.

The stranger furrowed his brows as he echoed her choice of address. "Monsieur wolf?"

"Because you look like one." Mercredi smirked and gestured towards her whole face. "A predator." There was something alluring about the look of ridicule dripping from her eyes.

He found himself leaning forward only to catch himself.

"...cheh." A small laugh ended up escaping him. He leaned back in his chair and picked up his drink, only to watch as her lips sucked at the straw.

"...Miss has very good eyes."

"..." Suddenly Mercredi felt uncomfortable. She looked to see what he was doing but that person was drinking. Had she imagined it? She felt dirty all of a sudden.

"My intuition has never failed me." She muttered.

"Hm?"

She abandoned her post to sit two seats away.

A flicker of amusement passed in Mr. Wolf's gaze. He moved one seat closer.

"I didn't mean to scare you away."

"If Monsieur wolf is hungry you should find something to eat."

He raised his brows at her. "..."

"Not me! Look at the menu!" She gestured around them.

There were many girls dancing on the dance floor. Dressed in fine brand name clothes they all looked quite juicy.

But that person didn't even spare a glance.

"Why look at side dishes, when the main dish is right here?"

"I'm not a side dish nor the main dish! I'm not even an appetizer! Look how tiny I am!" She gestured towards her head to her feet.

The stranger leaned forward his eyes sparkling. "But the flavor!"

Mercredi's face scrunched up in disgust.

"Your food, miss."

"Thank you!"

Once again she got distracted by the smell of fried chicken. All of a sudden her mouth began to water. She used a menu as a partition to block her face while eating.

Watching her the stranger smirked.

When she finally finished eating she had noticed that person had left.

Her shoulders relaxed.

"Finished?" The same voice came from the opposite direction.

Only to find him sitting on her right. His head resting atop his chin he stretched out a hand to wipe the cheese from the corner of the mouth and licked it.

Embarrassment and disgust made her face twich. She banged a fist on the table.

"Monsieur!"

"Yes?"

She could only end up groaning out of frustration.

"Are you trying to scare me off?"

"No..." She slipped off her stool.

He stepped down from his, his eyes widening with expectation as if challenging her.

"Are you leaving now?" he asked.

"Eddie! We're leaving!" The sound of Claudia's voice calling to her from the back at that moment. Mercredi booked it, practically diving into the crowd. She hopped up to see if that person had followed but he was just standing there watching in amusement.

As their gazes met, his smile extended exposing a canine.

"...Mister, I'm with that man! He'll pay for me!" She yelled as loud as she possibly could.

That wiped the grin off his face for a sec, he locked gazes with the bartender who placed down the receipt, she smiled in satisfaction before hurrying out the door.
