The sun broke through the window. This was it the 31st I yawned ruffling my brown fair hair as I got up. I went to breakfast April and Lilly were arguing about how much trouble there actually in. I did not really worry as there all young I was more worried for my master who could be fired.
I ate my final bit of potato bread when my master came in., he was wearing a grey formal suit with red tie. I looked around the girls were also in formal dresses which made me feel underdressed "don't worry about its lad "my master said as he must of sense my unease.
"your clothes are fine; minors are not allowed into the hearing" he said cheerily
I tried to match his energy, but it was hard not only do I have to do noting for hours ill be on my own.
All five of us walked through the town Lilly and Akikio hand in hand, in the capital same sex couples were only not accepted by a small handful of people at the dismay of minster burke who lost the last election to the current emperor.
The main street was packed with normal folk rushing about there busy days, the smell from all the nearby restaurants and cafes were filling my nostrils as I want to float to them like the cartoons in the papers. We walked through many streets full of tall buildings and even the grand shopping centre it had at least 50 shops the biggest in the country.
We finally got to parliament buildings it was by far the largest building I have ever seen it had three clock towers and six golden spires and between them there was two guards with rifles on each battlement. The more steps in took toward it the more I felt like an insect.
The inside was filled with shiny decorations and portraits of the emporor.my master went to the reception desk as he told her name she looked around rapidly for his card her hair was a mess and her glasses were down to her nose. She finally found it as the card floated and sped of down the corridor. Me, my master and the girls followed the cared until it brought us to the hearing room.
"sit there and don't move" he order as he pointed at the bench
I sat down patiently as they all went into the chamber. Not a moment afterwards a shrill voice was heard order someone to hurry up I looked up and it was Hailey and her mother.my blood pressure shot up as her mother stood right in front of me she was taller than Hailey and her face looked like she spend way to much time in water.
"you boy is you Nak" she said in a cracking voice
I gulped "yes mam" I said trying to meet her gaze
She handed me a letter and then barked at Hailey to sit down. Hailey sat down as he mother rushed into the chamber, as soon as she did Hailey planted a kiss on my lips " I missed you so much" her voice was so enchanting I almost forgot the letter.
It said I was invited to a ball tomorrow night and that I could bring a plus one. Without hesitation I asked Hailey. She beamed with joy as did I ignoring the part about formal wear. I thought to myself that maybe my master would let me buy a suit afterwards. If es still my master. Hailey must have seen the sadness on my face.
"let us do something fun "she said with a wink
Surly she could not have meant what I thought she meant as she brought us to an empty room. I suddenly remember what April said on the train. "are you a witch" I said my knees start to tremble.
She looked at me with annoyance and sadness "not by choice plus not all witches are bad" she said as she turned away with her arms crossed.
"I know "I wrapped my arms around her she turned and looked up her eyes more sparkly that ever as she said I love you. After kissing a bit, she said look at this as she pulled out a pen whisper something to it and tapped the wall, the whole room filled with candles and a bed appeared.
After going under the sheets about three times each time better than the last we finial thought it was best if we returned. It was about 6pm the hearing would be over soon, quickly hand in hand me and Hailey rushed to the bench knocking into a boy no other than us. He had short jet-black hair his fringe over one eye and his pale face red with anger.
"look what you did your stupid peasant" he said picking up his papers some of them had battle plans and proclamations.
"I'm sorry sir.
"sirs burke so to be emperor to you "
I used all my energy to full into my laughter. Lord burke went around the corner as I burst into laughter "what's funny "Hailey asked with confusion
"he's the great mister burke, he's no more than spoil child" I said with my arms at my hips
"I sense great evil Nak he's dangerous" she said seriously
I did not want her to feel stupid, so I kissed her and said ill keep an eye on him. No sooner than when we got back to the bench misters burst out of the hearing room some happy some mad. Hailey's mother came out second last before Hailey went, she gave me a goodbye kiss it was awkward in front of her mother who was tapping her heel impatiently.
My master and the girls came out next. They looked sad but it wasn't as bad as it could have been as the girls got house arrest and my master got suspend from taking jobs for six months, which kind of makes him under house arrest as the house was now the safest place from that gang he owes money too.
