Chapter 1 - Unexpected Confrontation

My master and I walked through the doors of the grand hotel it's hard to believe a hotel of this calibre is haunted as it was fancy and decorative. We walked straight past the reception desk and into the dining area as the owner was expecting us.

When we got into the dining area the people there were not what you would expect in a hotel like this there where factory workers, miners and other working class people so finding the owner was easy as he was the only one dressed in a suit and tie.

As we got closer to the corner of the room he was sitting in, I seen by the flicker of the table lantern that he was very sleep deprived but as he seen us approach his face lit up with hope. The hotel owner stood up and saluted "good evening commander Doyle" he said with pride.

"at ease soldier I'm not a commander no more" he said with a smile, but I could a hint of sadness on his face. We all sat down and discuss the job we were brought here which was to deal with a demon who has possessed the ghost of a wife of a former solider.

The woman was called Barbra and after her husband died from wounds sustain in the great war she blame the staff and killed several of them before hanging herself in one of the rooms  which was what half the hotel was during the great war so on night she killed five nurses then hung herself. Now the hotel is haunted and the only way to cleanse it from this hotel is too kill the demon by first separating it from the spirt in which it possesses.

After the owner wish us luck, he signals to an attendant to show us to our rooms. Master Doyle suggested for our best chances of detecting the demon that he will take room 68 and I would take the one in front of his room 78. Inside the room was stunning the bed clothes were purple silk, with two big puffy pillows and there was also a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a table with a mirror and two golden lion statues.

The be looked so inviting that I took of my boots and went straight to sleep. Aloud bang woke me out of my peaceful slumber it was very dark outside the only source of light was the dimly lit lantern across the street the banging started again this time louder and closer to me.

I thought it could be my master at the door, so I got up turned on the light and opened the door, but no one was there. I peaked my head out the door and looked up and down the corridor there was no sign of my master or anyone then the banging begun again only this time it was behind me… I quickly turn around as this woman in a wedding dress was standing there her eyes red as blood.

I opened my mouth to offer help but before I could speak a word she grabbed  me by the throat and threw me around the room she repeated that action three times before finally throwing me on the bed I couldn't move as she slowly crawled on top of me she smiled reviling two sharp thangs " fresh blood" she hissed at me as she brought her mouth closer to my neck.

I for sure thought I was a goner but my master barged into my room as he shot his revolver at the creature she laughed and turn her attention to him she threw him into his room she must have supernatural strength to throw my master like that she looks like she hasn't eaten in a month.

As soon as she left the rom my ability to move came back. Quickly I ran to my master's aid. He was in one corner of his room protected by a magic bubble but I didn't think he had much strength left to keep it active there was a sword on the floor made of pure silver I picked it up and struck the left shoulder of the creature.

She let out a wailing noise, transforming into what I could only describe as a human bat. She pushed me aside and dive through the window. I went over the broken window expecting to find a body down below but there was not a single trace of her.

Shocked and confused I ran over to my master who was sitting in the corner getting his energy back from that ordeal. "What was that" I asked my master.

"well young Nak I'm not sure I've never seen a creature like that before"  He said sounding as shocked and confused as myself. Master Doyle stood up and went to the door of his room as he gestured for me to follow him.

We got halfway down the corridor then I asked "are we going to fight the demon now after that" I asked not sure if I am ready to face another dark entity

"yes, my young apprentice we said we would do it tonight" he said with determination in his voice as we walked to the end of the corridor. My master turned to me "after we walk through these double doors, we will be in the demons realm prepare yourself" he said with a pat on my shoulder.
