Spartan-016 Diesel was defending one of the last remaining places on Reach. The Covenant was quickly destroying the UNSC's defensive strongholds one after another. Diesel's current assignment was to help as many Soldiers/Civilians as possible escape from Reach. However, as the defense against the Covenant got longer, the intensity of the attacks increased.
As the final Civilians boarded the Pelican Spartan-017 Dominick finally received permission from High-Command that they were allowed to retreat. Both Spartans boarded separate Pelicans and began making their way to the Pillar of Autumn.
---Story start---
"Banshee's Incoming!"
"Evasive Maneuvers!"
"They are firing!"
The Pilot dodges the first 2 Plasma Cannons, narrowly getting scraped by the third. "Open the hatch now!" Opening the hatch of the Pelican, Diesel grabs a rocket launcher off the weapons rack locking onto one of the three Banshees. He fires a rocket, blowing the first Banshee out of the sky. At the same time, a second Banshee explodes from another rocket that fired from the Spartan-017 Dominick.
Before either Spartan could destroy the third Banshee, it began firing plasma shots (The little peashooter) into the back of Diesel's Pelican killing any surviving Marines. Closing the hatch to help prevent more casualties. A Third rocket was fired from Dominick destroying the remaining Banshee.
"Spartan! Those shots hit the console and threw us into slipspace mode! I can't stop the process! Shit! Also, the airlock is sealed and won't open!"
"Where are we heading!"
"Sir, I have no idea!"
"Quickly, send the coordinates to the other Pelican!"
"Yes, si..." Before the Pilot could do anything. An Electrical surge blew up in his face killing the Pilot instantly. Noticing the death of the Pilot, Diesel immediately commanded Domnick.
"Dom! Lock onto my slipspace coordinates immediate..." *Swoosh.*
"Did you get those Coordinates?"
"Yes! sir!"
"Good!"
