Chapter 64 - Her Burning Tree

"Faye..." I rush toward the cottage, ignoring Rhys' constant calls as I jump over the lifeless body and inside the widely opened door. The place is dim and distant; it's quiet except for the sound of slow breaths. 

My soul almost leaped out of my body when I'm pushed backward with great force. I hit the wall in with a painful impact, and my head, unfortunately hitting the picture frame that hangs. I shiver when I feel the cold blade touching the skin of my neck.

"Rose, wait!" Rhys frantically calls out to me, and I see him in the corner of my eyes before the door shuts on his face. He bangs on the door, trying to get it open.

"Faye, it's just me- hey, it's just-" I try to reason out with a shaking voice, but I go silent the instant. This person could not be Faye.
